2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Rear vent glass replacement, how hard?

My truck came back from a New Years party last night with a broken rear glass. Not the back glass but the side vent glass in the rear.



I'm thinking about buying one and replacing it myself. My guess is I need to remove the interior trim in the back seat area and should find some type attachment. Anyone have any advice, are any special tools required.

It's fairly simple. The rear latch snaps onto the attachment lug. The hinges mount through the post with 10mm nuts from the inside. Pop the trim loose on the post- no need to remove the entire panel. DO NOT DROP THE NUTS IN THE POST! Grease in the socket helps. When replacing the nuts, just make them good & snug- don't overtighten them.

I found out the hard way. Two years ago i was hurrying to mow the yard the evening before we were to fly out on vacation, just as i was finishing up i hit a rock and turned to see what i had done just in time to see glass falling from my drivers side back glass. Insurance replaced it while i was gone.

Actually, a Quad is even easier- the hinge screws are exposed on the edge of the back door instead of being hidden behind the door pad. (I broke one of mine with a mower, too!)

Now you know why mowers come with that plastic deflector!
