It seems that I had read a previous post regarding upgrading 2500 rear wheel cylinders to the larger 3500 ones. I am getting close to a rear brake job and would like to make that upgrade. If any one has info. regarding that post or the P/N's of the cyl's a little help would sure be appreciated. (boy are my eyes tired from reading prev. posts trying to find this)

no cylinders are 1 1/8 OE from dodge but it is an option you can use, OE largest cylinders are 1 1/16. This is a confusing issue and i have seen 2 identical trucks, same year with different sizes from the factory---Sam

Stock specs for wheel cylinder size is easy to remember===13x2 1/2 uses cylinder size 1 1/16----13x3 1/2 uses cyl size 1 1/8. The upgrade to the larger cylinder won't be any problem unless the rear tires don't grip well in the rain.

Sam,

Sorry to be so thick... . must be the diesel fumes getting to me!! You stated in a previous post that the 3500 ( 13x3 1/2 ) uses cyl size 1 1/8. The spec page shows that the 99 2500 and the 3500 share the same cyl. size? I thought you said that no truck comes OE with 1 1/8" cylinders. Am I correct in understanding that a 99 2500 did not come in anyway from the factory with 1 1/8" cylinders?

Thanks again for settling the confusion... . People of your expertise are invaluable to this site!!!

challenger---that 1 1/8 posting that i did way back when should have been corrected to read 1 3/16. I may have been stateing that the GM trucks use 1 1/16 & 1 3/16 cylinders as the stock sizes from the factory on the same size shoes as dodge uses. because all of these cylinders will interchange lets you use the one that works best for your load. sorry to add to the confusion. ---Sam
