Rearend axle spacer removal w/ PacBrake Bags

Does anyone run the 4x4 version Pacbrake bags with the rear axle spacers removed?



I saw a post the Pacbrake recomended the 2x4 version for this application but I just put the 4x4 bags on last week!



Anyone?

I just installed my bags and left the spacers in, never thought about taking them out. What would be the benefit of taking them out?

Some of the guys that tow 5th wheels or goosenecks take the rear spacers out to lower the rear of the truck a few inches. This helps give a little more clearance over the bed rail on the 4x4 trucks.

 

[Pacbrake]

if you remove the spacers the bags the bags for the 4X4 can and will rub, thus causing them to posibly fail over time. If you do use them it is better to always keep them aired up, the down side to that is your ride may/will be stiffer.

I'm gonna take Pacbrakes advise and leave the spacers in. I wouldn't even gain the clearence I need by removing them anyways. I'm going to have to do the spring over on my new 5er. Oh well!

The problem I don't care for, is that you have to take the spring pack apart to get the rear caliper off once the spacers are removed...

I've pulled the spacers on the truck we pull a 5er with... at this point that truck has 75K miles with no problems with the air bags...

That was a concern early on but its not true, the caliper comes right off.

Might be for you... but I own all 3500 dually's... and you can't remove the caliper mounting bolt without it striking the spring pack with the spacers removed... .

So we have to loosen the U-bolts and let the axle sag.....

The bolt is well out of the threads and the caliper comes off with the bolt still in the caliper.
