What is involved in changing from a 411 ring gear and pinion to a 354 on a 04 6 speed? Other than buying the gears and labor. Does the Carrier or other parts have to be changed?

Your question does not compute. You cannot get a 2006 CTD 6 speed with 4. 1x gears. 3. 73 is the only option available for the G56 6 speed. 3. 54 (or anything else lower than 3. 73 for that matter) is not available.

The truck belongs to a freind of mine it is a 2004 HO 6 speed. He is wanting to change to a 354 gear if possible. Are saying he can only go as low as 3. 73?

As far as I know, there are still only three rear choices for the 11. 5... 3. 73, 4. 10, and 4. 56 (new, aftermarket)... the 3. 55 (or better 3. 42s) have not been developed yet even though they appear on AAM's website...

I was told there is no carrier change in either the 11. 50 or the 9. 25... as far as the gear change, it seems no different than any other... easier in a sense than the dana axles... there are some adjustable shims on the carrier bearings and the pinion is set up the same as any other differential... these are very similar to the 9. 25 rear used in the 1/2 ton rams in setup.

You read it wrong... 2004 with a 6spd... NV5600 transmission, not G56...

My bad (eyes). I saw the 6 in the original post and my brain read it as a 2006 model.

Of course the 2004 came with the NV5600, I have one. :-laf
