I am looking into that. Actually one step further. I am going to take one of the broken headunit from the dealership and hack the face off. Then mount the body of cd player like under the center cushion, then remote mount the faceplate under the Hvac controls (using CAT5 wire, you can do this)

anyway, I will make it a project and have some fun with it

I actually knew of a guy that did something similar for his T-Type. He used the factory Delco stereo and gutted it putting a CD player in there. Kept the face on there so it looked stock but he set it up so he could remove the face to get to the CD player. I don't remember exactly how he had it set up, it flipped down or something.

Hey Tom apparently they hit the entire Page Ave area. I talked to more people down the road that got broke into also.

Thats some crap! man, Learned my lesson. NO FANCY stuff in sight. I may just use my stacks as music from now on

Tomeygun -

Man, sorry for your loss. I been there, only last time they took the truck too. Took over a month for the police to find it. Kind makes you wish you had one of these huh?

I find myself doing that a lot :-laf I love to hear that Super 62 and 5" pipe roar...

Sorry man, that sucks. I had my 2001 exactly 8 days befores some a-hole broke into it. (right in front of our crack smoking security team at work) :-{} Same deal, pried out the drivers door handle. After they tried prying open rear slider and then driver side rear quad window. Anyway 2500. 00 in damage, i was sick. One place wanted to re-skin the door, but i wasn't to confident in that, so i had the other bidder repair the original skin. Now 5 years later and the repair has gone bad. Still gets me hot every time i get in the truck. I'd shoot that scum bag today if i found out who it was. I feel your pain man.

I just saw this post and all the feelings of being broken into came back

Sorry for the loss Tomeygun. :{

It has been over ten years but I can still remember that sickening feeling of coming out to the truck and the stereo was gone. The second stereo I put in the truck was the cheapest thing I could find at Kmart and a year later they stole that one too. Idiots!

Maybe I need to put a remote trigger on my truck so that I can get the opportunity to meet the criminal :D

Sorry man!

Sorry to hear about that! I feel for you.

Here at work, we have had several vehicles broken into recently. Mine was sitting less than 15 feet from one victim. Everthing inside mine appears stock. No fancy stereo for me. Turbos and pipes sound better as I listen to a lot of talk radio anyway.

I have did a little looking and it seems there is some pretty good convertors out there (one by JL audio) that takes speaker level input and turns it into a 8v pre-out for the amplifier... .

Looks stock (using the stock headunit), then will sound awesome with the JL audo digital processing.

Now just to figure where to mount the amp as not to be simply under the seat...

I had a nice system in a Pontiac Grand Prix that was never touched, but the car had an alarm. I sold the car and put the stereo in a new Ford Ranger. It didn't last two weeks in the truck. Someone ripped apart the dash to get the head unit out on a church parking lot during service. The idiots didn't think to look under the false floor behind the front seats where there was an amp and CD changer. I felt like I was violated.

Thieves are scum and I would beat the tar out of one if I caught him. #@$%!

I added an aftermarket stereo to my stock head unit with this, so from the outside everything looks factory. It sounds great too ;)

Cool Jeff, thanks for that link and info.

Sorry Tomey. I agree with your thoughts on the subject.

Man, that sucks. I had my Celica broken into when I was 16 and had some very important cd's (signed) stolen from me. The worst part is, I know the people who took it had no idea what it meant and just threw it into the river. Sad day for me ...

Tommygun, did you get your Jimmi Jammers installed yet? I did mine on Saturday. It was pretty easy to do, and took about 90 minutes for all 4 doors. You just have to remove the inner door panels and then remove one nut from the outer door handle. The hardest part was getting my big hands inside the door. Hopefully it was worth the cost and effort.

I hope so too. Mine will be here tomorrow. I have to wait to put them in though until the insurance co is done with the estimates

If it makes you feel any better, I put a $1200 stereo / amp / speakers system in my 05 and it was stolen a few weeks later! :) New one has the upgraded 7 speaker system so I dont have to have it attrack thiefs. Sorry for your loss, i can sympathize...

Jimmi Jammers

Tomeygun,

After reading your post I ordered the JJ's and installed them a couple days ago. Posted a "how to" in the Product/Accessories Forum.

On a QC the rear doors are little more difficult, due to the shape of the plate. Don't drop the nut!! Arrrg!!

crabman :)
