I checked the Dodge website and it looks like they just extended the current rebates through September. The rebates are still $2500 for 04's and $1000 for 05's through the end of the month. I was hoping for the rebates to go up, but didn't really expect it. At least they haven't gone down! :)

Jeepdude,

Got a call from Magnussens. The '05 I had ordered will be in around Sept. 10 if you want to let someone know it's there. I'm not going to take it. I'm leaving Sunday to go get my '04. 5.

Ummmm, ok. Everyone I know that wants one will order one to their own specs, though. I'm sure they won't have a problem selling it on the lot.

Mberry,

Just curious, what sort of deal did Magnussens promise you, how much above/below invoice & was that before or after rebate?

Did you have a down & did they give you anything in writing? Just curious because I have gotten some conflicting reports about them...

Thanks, DanDee

I just got back from magnussens today (second time, won't be a 3rd!) and all I can say is, what a waste of time. I waded through their construction site for 5 minutes just to find a sales buzzard. Once I did, it took 10 minutes for him to drive me to the lot across the street where the trucks are. Once there I identified a truck I wanted to drive, and he insisted that the 04. 5 sitting next to it was the same thing and that's what I should drive. 10 minutes later he agrees to let me drive the '05. 10 Minutes later we're back on the main lot in the construction zone... no he doesn't pull up, run in the door, and grab a key... he spends 5 minutes parking the truck in a spot that's barely big enough and I know very well will take him another 5 minutes to get out of. He disappeared into the store while I waited in the blazing sun for 15 minutes... so after at least 45 minutes of wasted time (had to get back to work), I left. Supposedly, according to the big-wig looking manager/owner guy in the tie, he was their main "truck guy" that could tell me anything I ever wanted to know about a Dodge truck. Amazing that when I asked if he had any 05's with sunroofs on the lot yet, he said "sunroof? you're kidding, I didn't know they had those!" You mean to tell me the "expert" hasn't even looked at the options in the computer to see whats new? I also mentioned the lift pump had changed and he didn't even know there were 2 different kinds of fuel pumps in the truck. I guess I expect too much from sales people, but I wouldn't buy a truck there if it was the last place within 500 miles... sure maybe it was just one numbnut, but they should think about that before hiring someone like that to represent their company.

I had a similar experience there (and at many other dealers) when "walking in the front door". What do you expect from the typical sales monkey?

You gotta talk to the fleet guys. Completely different experience.

There's no point in wasting the fleet guy's time just for a test drive. I wasn't there to buy anything or to talk about prices or to make a deal. I just wanted to drive the dang truck. Funny how I can test drive a $50K BMW and they just copy my DL, hand me the keys, and say "have fun", but the dodge dealership escorts me around the block and calls it a test drive... except this time it took 45 minutes and I still hadn't gotten in the drivers seat.
