How do i dissassemble the starter selinoid on a 1999 delco starter from a cummins 5. 9----it looks like i have to un-solder the two small leads on the battery stud end ---but i would rather ask someone who has done it----thanks for the help---tom

Delco was not OEM on the pick-ups. There are a few different designs on the delco's but you can find rebuilt Delco's very reasonably priced at any truck parts house.

Thanks for the reply bob. its out of a 1999 5. 9 cummins and its clearly marked delco remy. i am a long time shade tree mechanic--far from knowing it all---so my problem is i can not take the individual selinoid --which is off the starter apart. genos sells the rebuild kit for app. 35. 00---so it is rebuildable--i have done others where i had to unsolder the wires to the magnet --on the end cap to pull it apart--and was curious if this was the method here also---thanks,tom

I have no doubt it is a D/Remy,just not oem. Some of the newer solenoids are considered a replace only..... the contacts for the OEM starter will be different than what you have
