MY 94 with 272k on it runs fine. I have had to replace the rear main seal, IP, and radiator. Eventually, she will need to have a rebuilt or new engine as I plan on keeping her to the big finish line.

I seem to remember that the 2nd generation is not an easy rebuild and wonder, as I do long-term planning, which would be better: a rebuilt or a new engine. I'll need to know sources and costs. Any advice appreciated...

Not that I am any expert... I think you have a few more miles left in the old girl... I only have 479,000 on mine bvut I have seen many others on the road with over 500,000. Sit back and relax for a few more miles.

If there will be no extensive machine work like if you scored a cylinder or warped the block from heat than in my opinion a rebuild of your engine would be the cheapest.
