Well my ole' Bronze beauty is finally done... Guys at Six States Distributing were wonderfull... Neat guys to work with... .

They were a little busy but took a total of 2 weeks... . the first week was just waiting for them to get to it... . transmission was on the bench friday... . then from monday to today, (friday) rebuilt it, installed may fast coolers and used the Oil I brought in (redline MTL)... Did the overfill of 1 quart,..... My Dad picked it up and I will get off the road tomorrow but he said it shifts smooth as butter.

Was told by the mechanic that I had the ol style synchros and bearings in my early 01 (built Jan 2000)... they must have redid them for the 02 model because they don't make my older style anymore... . I do have the larger input though...

so if the newer 02 style is better, that would answer why some have no trouble and others have clashing... . curious...

On sunday, going to tow my Rhino on a utility trailer to the mountains... a little weight, a little power, should be just the thing to ease in the new parts... will report nback later...

Any thoughts on how long I should leave this redline MTL in for the first time? I think I ve like 7 quarts in right now with the coolers... .

NV repair

Great to hear that you're back up! I have been following your experience in this with more than casual interest. If the maker is gone, I have wondered how one proceeds with out of warranty repairs. Good to know there are solutions.

Great to read you got it back together. Must be nice to have a new motor and trans. . :)

The only thing that bugged me a little is the choice to deviate from the recommended spec'd oil for the transmission. I mean, is there some reason to need to go with something different that is mandated by the manufacturer? Just curious. I think if it were my newly rebuilt 6 speed, I'd be using recommended oil, and driving it real easy for awhile, then change out the first oil at about 200 miles to get the dingleberries out.

Hey, MTL is probably fine, ill shut up now.

6 states recommended the MT 90 for mine! just dropped off my truck there today, just as eric's parents were picking up his truck,(PSSST Eric, tell Pop's to watch the smoke a bit) :-laf hopefully mine will be (re) done by the middle of next week. Has had a strange noise since we installed 6 weeks ago, took it up there once already but still has the same noise when it gets hot, so they wanted the whole truck this time. Which clutch did you go with Eric?

Redline is the same viscosity as the stock stuff,... Yeah I know it is expensive oil and now that I have the newer Synchros, and the oil is good for our trans, I will give it a shot right off the bat. .

I will probably go like til next year before I consider draining the trans..... Since it is new, and I imagine these guys do work surgically, I hear these 5600's are a pain to work on... I bet it is pretty clean in there so I'll leave it for now... I have a port for a temp sender, I can let some leak out of there to see how dirty it is... .

I am towing a light utility trailer tomorrow to the mountains to ride the rhino on some trails so a nice light load to break it in..... then it's the 15K trailer in August!!

I have the 2nd stage Luk Clutch. . It was a sorta impulse/availability thing when the motor was getting rebuilt. Cost about $600..... There was a model that was like stock and this one I bought is like the SB Con OFE but the facing is a little wider... .

So far the clutch is like liquid. . very smooth and handles all my power so I'm happy.
