Does a rebuit pump such as one from industrial injection have any better odds of making it with a wire tapped from a comp box. I just wonder if they do anything internaley to the pump to make it with stand more. After reading alot about tapping the pump wire I found the thread that I think was from blue chip saying that if your pump makes it the first tweny minutes you might be alright. But I just have 20,000 on this pump and the old one never was tapped.

I doubt ANY of the rebuilders make specific mods intended to extend pump life when the pump wire is tapped - but the current revision and upgrade level of VP-44 rebuilts seems to indicate that the failure rate is GREATLY reduced - and that undoubtedly includes pumps "abused" by power box taps.

I have a II rebuilt on my '02, tapped and using a Comp - no problems so far...

Ive got one from II bout a year or so ago. I left mine untapped for a bout a month to give it time to "break in" or whatever you want to call it. been tapped and run hard since then, no problems with the pump so far.

My Blue Chip Special X was tapped from the git-go and with about 2000 miles on it both it and I are happy. :-laf I have just had to back off the throttle until my ATS trans upgrade happens. I'm waiting on Top Jimmy to get back with me on pricing. Walbro 392 Glacier Diesel kit is also here and ready for me to install. I can't get past #3 without stock pump going to 5 p. s. i.
