This happened to mine... a '95. In rush hour traffic the throttle gets stuck! #ad
Ditched into a side street, new cable cost $63. 00+. This was after being at the dealer for a frame transplant, they are either stupid or they are blind! Ray Charles could have seen it!

A couple months ago there was a post concerning this and NHTSA wanted old throttle cables, can't seem to find it. I would like my $65. 00 bucks back!

Mike, you will probably get your money back, I did on the hitch recall even though I replaced mine with a non-Dodge hitch before the recall. The wheels of government sure are slow, I first complained to the NHTSA about the cable in '97, there were many other complaints already logged there about it even then.

Sam here sam. There was some talk about reimbursement for us who already have done it.

I looked for my recipt till I was blue in the face. Can't find it #ad

Here's the wording from the NTHSA website. It states the year involved(of course we all know what years were involved #ad
) All I have is the receipt from the install of a new one for my 94.

I'm in the middle of fighting mine tonite! #ad
I dam sure plan on getting reimbursed. I'm also going to let the dealer fight the one on my other Ram. This replacement set up is RIDICULOUSE! Why didn't they put the same size of clip on the end so it could be a simple snap off, snap on replacemant? #ad

This is specific to the 12V; the 24V is a TPS (electronic). Had the balljoint drop off my '95; zip tied it back together after it towed my 14000 lb trailer up a long grade AT IDLE. Cool.

Anyways, off to 12V engine/drivetrain...

Replaced mine last fall.

I would rather pay the cost of the cable and install it myself than let the yahoos at the local dealership touch it again. Took it in for 3 recalls, got it back with 7 things wrong.
Can someone please post the reimbursment procedure?

Will the dealer replace the stock original throttle cable if after inspection it looks o. k. ? Mine has over 105,000 miles on it and visualy looks good. I bought a new one from Cummins N. w. and carry it behind the seat just in case.

David, I'm pretty sure they will, the part is known to be faulty. I would wait for notification to come, I'm sure we already know more about it than most dealers at this point.

I called the dealer about the recall. He ran my vin and said my 95 with a frayed cable wasn't included in the recall. Called DC hot line - same thing.

The recall is based on your VIN#. Just because you have a 93 thru 96 with a bad cable doesn't mean DC will do anything.

I called the NHTSA hot line and filed a complaint. The man I talked to said that may or may not get me included. If you are not, call NHSTA and file a complaint.

For those do it yourselfers who, like me replaced their cable already, here's the inside contact info for Dodge to try and get refunded.
Include your old cable if you still have it (easy for me as I just tackled the monster this past weekend).
Include copy of your invoice for the replacement cable.
I would also recomend including your VIN # and the recall number.
Oh, don't forget to send them your address and phone number.
Send all of this to:

Diamler Chrysler

ATTN RECALL

I was told to do this and deal directly with DC for any refund requests as the dealer isn't going to be able to help you. Was also told they are fairly prompt with reply. I'm sending mine off this week and will let ya'll know how it goes.

I called Chrysler customer service yesterday and she had no idea what I was talking about. She said there was no recall on the cable. " If there ever is a recall you will get reimbursed since you already had it fixed" she said.
