My 98. 5 has a recall on this. You might want to check for yours. I disregarded it because it was replaced with the Reunel.

Actually happy with stealer over this

When I got my recall on this, I took it to the stealer, and he was actually very easy to deal with. I just made an appontment, took the truck in, and it was replaced in less than an hour. No mess or questions, and nobody looked under the hood to see my toys. They just pulled the truck in, yanked the old hitch, and put on a new one.



Definitely worth the piece of mind.

I took mine in and they installed some reinforcement brackets and that was it. Said everything else looked fine.

RECALL ON HITCH

took truck to dealer for recall that i was never notified about. it took 1 day for them to figure out they couldnt fit new setup which is way bigger than original one. the after market bumper i installed was in the way by 1/4 inch,i told them to notch 2 small grooves in bumper but they wouldnt do it. they gave me hitch and i installed it in about 20 minutes no big deal . LAZY DEALER.

I inquired about mine at the dealer, as it falls within the build dates on the recall. Dealer said NOPE, yours is not affected..... I would still like to have the reinforcement brackets...

I just had my class 3 original equipment hitch replaced with a Putnam class 4 hitch... It is scary how thin the class 3 that came on the truck is. :--) This was definatly worth $150. 00

The new one they gave me is alot thicker and has more mounting holes looks much stronger.

Is that recall only for 3500 or 2500 also?
