Received this notice over the weekend and was wonding if anyone had heard about it?

Description of Recall Campaign:

Vehicle Description: Certain van, wagon, passenger and sport utility vehicles, fail to comply with requirements of FMVSS No. 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies. " The front seat belt retractor, after cycle testing, may not comply with the requirements of the standard.
These belts do not meet the requirements of the standard.

Dealers will replace the seat belt retractor. DaimlerChrysler has not yet provided NHTSA with an owner notification schedule for this campaign.

got the same notice, but don't know any specifics yet. i guess we'll have to wait a little while longer to find out.

I got one about a week ago for the wifes Dakota truck. It had an owners manual addendum about the child retraints in the back of the rear seat. Just how to properly attatch the child safety seats to the tethered anchor points. Not anything to go to the dealer about though #ad

H. O. Ram - Forgot to look at the build date but it would have to be in August or September of 1998.

Phil - I received a paper from Dodge/Chrysler on the Tether placement as well. It appears that this possible recall is for the belts themselves.

just pulled this of the NHTSA web site. looks like they are going to replace the seat belt retractor.

Does this have anything to do with the problem I am having with my retractor. Quite often, I can't reach my brake release because the seat belt retractor locks up. Once in a while I have to unhook it to release the brake. I am not short - 5'10" - but do drive with my seat all of the way back.

However, my truck was manufactured prior to Dec. '98.
