blue wire to brake controler ?

Colibert Enterprises has a great hitch!!!

I managed to put mine through the outside wall of the garage. Nice little hole in the siding. I don't leave mine in, but I did at that time. Backed up to my mark (with no hitch) and I was just a little to long! Also, I feel that if I'm rearended and they can't get off my hitch, I just got a new car! :-laf And yeah, those shin whackers hurt like nothing else. My buddy walked into mine once and hit the ground in agony. I hit the ground laughing, not at him... well, yeah, at him...

Franklin police are some of the biggest blankety blanks I know of around here. I think they get a percentage of their tickets. Hard city to drive around if you need to go that way, also, stupid mountains and rivers! :D

JUST LIKE I SAID!! "THIS COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET " When laws like this get passed because some bureacratic *****-Hole has nothing better to do and also becoming a minority in my own dam country but thats another issue, I for one will not give in that dam easy on some of this BS, i don't care what happens, its about Principle and being governed by a dictating gov't which "OH THAT DON'T HAPPEN OVER HERE"... . yeah right!!!

As for the doctor that hit the hitch and sued, i hope he has a permanent bump, anyone that can't walk, talk and chew bubblegum at the same time, to much ignorance and stupidity in this country and its time this **** stopped. Getting back to basic law, instead of inacting ignorant statutes like this, how about cleaning up drug houses, drug dealers, when you bust them red handed, just shoot their worthless butts and there you have root problem solved... Of course this is just my opinion and could care less if its liked or disliked :-laf

I suppose that next they'll require farm tractors to remove the draft arms and drawbar when going down the road with no implements attached. :-laf

i think its a urban legend! i've searched both Coralville and Iowa City's codefied ordinances and found nothing related to this. I also searched PA and IA's state vehicle codes for it and came up empty handed.

I wanted to read and see if there were any loop holes to take advantage of but with the lack of it's existence, I say its a farse!

I was inspecting my friends new (96) dodge diesel. I wanted to look under the truck so I put my hand on the plastic part of the bumper to steady myself. My hand slid right off and I was falling looking right at the ball on the hitch. Somehow I managed to move enough to miss it and just fall on the ground. All I could think of on the way down was this is going to hurt. He takes his off now while I'm around. After walking into mine twice it stays off and under the back seat until needed. Damm bifocals are killing me. :)

I think the obvious way around any hitch-in-the-receiver-while-not-towing legislation is to hold the drawbar in the tube with a bolt & nut rather than a removeable pin. I think at that point the receiver/drawbar combination would become a fixed hitch.

I don't leave my drawbar in! :-laf

not everyone has the need for $2+K Hinsleys. :D

I still would fight this tooth and nail if adopted around here. it's rediculous. I have three recievers and carry them all with me, two under the seat and one locked in the reciever.

Ironious ordinances are made to be challenged. why dont they enforce noise offenses by harleys and littering via cigarette smokers. It would seem those offenders have a broader ill effect on the general population.

A local city owned CG allows golf carts to be riden but prohibits the use of licensed motorcycles or mopeds on the grounds. They also told our kids they could not ride their bikes on the GC roads. the F'n golf carts are flying everywhere and kids cant ride thier bikes. That makes for a happy family place to camp. Well we've got a surprise for them coming next year powered by 250CC's of Polaris fire breathing 2 speed automatic :D

I'm going to burn thier eyes and nostrils with racing gas fumes and fog for skeeters at the same time. maybe start smoking cigarettes and throwing them out like its some sort of halloween parade :D

I left my old one ('bout a week old at the time) in for about 2 days and it disappeared. That's CA for ya. Anything not bolted down is gone. Even then who knows.

I ain't taking my hitch out, no way. I've been rear ended 3 times, 2 was in a fast food drive through! The 1st time was on a freeway on ramp, at the on ramp meter light, I stopped, the teens in the Durango behind me didn't. They lost the bumper, grille, condensor, radiator. I got some black paint transfered to the hitch. I love the ones that crawl up on my tail to the point of I can only see their roof. Like you're really going to hurt me with your little Celica. What are they trying to prove when they crawl up on your tail? I have more than 1 time got out of my truck when someone is tailing me, usually females, you should see them tuck tail and run! So big and bad behind the wheel, but nothing but a bunch of babies when confronted. Maybe it's because I work for the CHP... ... ... :-laf

My drop hasnt been out of the reciever more than a couple of times in almost 5 years. Saved me twice. once to the demise of a lowered mini truck and once to some other little rice thing. Both times, i got out, looked at their car, looked at my truck, smiled said have a nice day, and then proceeded to give them a head start on lung cancer. :p

Oh yeah, not that you should have to, but to all you guys who keep getting them stolen, you know they make these neat thingamajigs called locking hitch pins. try one, cheaper than a replacement drop/ball.

? a logical reason behind the laws

There are good arguments for not having the hitch in the reciever. While I am a strong believer in less goverment is better than more goverment, my understanding is the Airbag control circuits in many cars, especially early air bag equiped, have inputs from sensors in and around the bumpers.

A hitch distributes impact around these sensors thus decreasing air bag usefullness. This applies to hitter and hitee. Not sure of the circuitry for the airbags on the Ram.

Just my two cents but if it is true, I am sure some lawyer will be all over this if the hitters airbag does not deploy because of your hitch and there is a law against it.

Personally I leave mine out so it does not get ripped off and makes it easier to access the back of the bed. (weight distributing hitch)

To the defense of hitch in, I laughed like hell when I saw a lexus impaled on the hitch of a f350. The blond could not figure out why her car would not back up after the collision and thought her trans was bad! :-laf

So! I you work for the CHP, maybe you could verify the code in California regarding this? SNOKING

As far as I know, I ain't heard anything about it yet. All the other Chippys at the office have them as well. I now have something to do at work on Monday :-laf

"I believe in California it is the law. Durning accidents the cars get locked together and are hard to remove from the road. So they passed a law on hitches sticking out with balls on them. Without a ball, I believe that you would be ok in California. SNOKING"

Guess that's why California has no balls.

Cheers,
