recently got a new gun

Got a WWII Mauser K98K rifle around christmas, talk about a good shootin gun, think i found my new deer rifle, It is simple to shoot close groups at 25 yds open sight (3 offhand in the size of a dime) I love it, it is heavy enough to keep steady, yet still light enough to be carry weight, not to mention the added benefit that it is super cheap to shoot using surplus ammo. I am happy with it just figured i would post on it

Just make sure you clean the rifle well within 12 hours of shooting it if the cheap 8mm surplus your shooting is corrosive ammo. Gotta get the salt out of the barrel and off the bolt face. (Corrosive due to the primers).



Mausers are excellent rifles. The Yugo Mausers are good too. You can buy 4 or 5 for the price of a good AR15.

The corrosive stuff wont clean out with regular solvents either. Soap and water works good.

Windex with amonia is the best thing i've found for cleaning the corrosive stuff.
