Guess Ill have to make some changes to have it pass.

AFC/plate/starwheel all the way back I presume, probably have to swap out the 191 d/v's.

Any experience with the DDP 4's on relatively stock fueling as far as smoke?

Mine passes every year with 370s, 191s, flat plate, and everything full forward. I think it depends on how they drive it (here its a dyno). If they're nice and easy and keep reasonable my numbers are pretty low. I would think from what I've heard around here that it doesn't get smokier than the 370s, and if I wanted (I don't) I could lay a Spy Hunter across the whole interstate if I bog it down. Ask them first and try to get a feel how they'll drive it. Around here the second chance is discounted or free, can't remember.

I'd bet your time is worth the $60 to just try it.

Sucks to be under 10,000 gvw dudn't it. . :-laf

Sometimes :D

I called and they are doing the opacity test on them so I dont know if thats harder or easier to pass? What exactly is the procedure for one of those

I just got a notice for emissions for my 24 valve.

I'll just bump the SMARTY down a bit.

A new Garrett Powermax turbo will also help clear the air from the larger sticks.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I recently went and my readings were under 2% of an allowable 20% opacity with my set up. I did run with the "valet" on (read ball valve on AFC line). I went to Superior Transmissions in Bethlehem. They seem to be very "gentle" on the throttle. Oh... It turned 15. 5 RWHP :-laf

They slam the pedal to the floor and let the governer stop it at red line multiple times (in neutral). Your gsk will be a problem. Here in Az. if your truck revs past red line they wont do the test. Also a 3k gsk could easily go to 4k in neutral, not good for stock motors. Bill

A stock truck in neutral with correct timing will rev past red line to around 3100 rpms or so last stock truck I messed with.

I'll second that. A 12v with a 3k gsk will rev way beyond 3k in neutral. The first year I used some zip ties to limit the throttle travel and prevent it from over revving during the test. Last year I just practiced a few times in the driveway first, tested fine, though I think I spent more time watching the tach then the screen that says to start/stop testing.

Just put the AFC housing full back and turn on the valet switch, should limit fuel enough to pass. If not looks like you'll be taking out your injectors once a year to pass it. The 191's you should be able to leave alone.

Two solutions, I put a small board under my carpet so when hitting the peddle to the floor it appears I was all the way down, the tech was looking for this. Second I put some tie wraps around the exposed throttle cable at the point of the pump, it took about 5 or 6 on my 97. What this does it stop the throttle from moving any further, in my case it stopped the engine at 3K with the peddle to the "floor" that way my GSK stayed put.

Worked like a charm.

I gonna have to give that a try, I went a couple of years rolling on the throttle and catching it at 3000, one year they thought it was a 24 valve and wouldn't test it ???? gave me a bye run that year, last year I took out the gsk as the some of the techs are getting wise to the not full throttle bit. I just about pulled the gsk this AM but decided it's to HOT outside, glad I waited :-laf

There's different types of tests. In CT they don't do a snap test, hence no slamming the throttle to the floor. Instead they put it on the rollers and run it at 30mph sniffing for opacity.
