recieved private messages not showing up

Question that maybe someone could help me with. When I recieve a private message it does not show up on here. I get an e-mail saying that I recieved a new private message but the only way to get to it is to click the link in the e-mail. If I just log onto here and go to my user control panel the message does not show up. And even when I am browsing the forum the little box on the top right does not list the new messages. It lists unread and total PM's both as 0. Thanks for the help and the great site!
