Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Recommend fixes for leaky transmission Lines

The transmission cooler lines in my truck leak/ooze from their connections on the side of my transmission. The connections are as tight as I want to make them.



Curious what you fellas recommend for directions to pursue to stop this pesky leaking. Stem/Stern replacement? Just new fittings..... JB Weld and Goop all over the threads



Not really on the JB weld.



I cringe a little at spending over $300 at the parts counter just to fix some oozey fittings.

transmission lines

I have the same problem and was thinking of threading in brass barb fittings in transmission and using all fuel rated 140 psi ruber lines from napa and double stainless hose clamps at each end. I was under front bumper area and noticed dodge has a few feet of this line in there since new and its in better shape than the metal stuff. I was wondering if anyone else has did this?

Be Careful

Fuel line cost me a transmission. The transmission cooler lines run much hotter than fuel systems. I replaced leaking cooler hoses with fuel line when cooler line was not available. The new line failed in less than 18 months. It got hard and cracked. Ran out of trans fluid at 75 MPH on the freeway. Thought something was wrong when the transmission dropped out of overdrive. In less than a mile the OD unit was toast.



NAPA makes a special line for transmission applications. It is worth the extra time and money.

You can always run -8 fittings and braided steel line too. When i went to twin turbos,I did that. It has been trouble free so far. It is cheaper than the factory stuff,but not by much,and you need to make up all the lines too.

hydrolic

I got spooked by all the talk about the plastic retainers going bad so I just got the proper fittings crimped on to a piece of hydrolic line, and have had no problems yet.
