I want to start participating in an oil analysis program, but not sure whom to go with. I met another diesel owner (Ford) that mentioned a company called Wearcheck and he seemed to be pretty happy with their web based reporting, and I see Geno's Garage has a Fleetguard sampling kit also (does that mean Fleetguard does the testing or is it sent to a separate lab).

Are there any advantages to going with one company or another? I could use some input from those that have some experience with an OAP.

I buy my Oil Analysis kit from Geno's Garage. When I buy I usually buy two or three when I purchase my filters also, so there all shipped together.

I believe the oil analysis is done by a subsidiary of Fleetguard, the company is called Monitor.

I receive an e-mail copy the same day that the analysis is finished, then they follow it up with a paper copy a couple of days later. They have several labs around the country so they will respond fairly fast to you on the state of your oil. They also will monitor the coolant in your truck if you send it in to them.

I'm also using the Genos kits/Monitor Labs. Have used them since day one on every fluid change - oil, transmission, xfer case, diffs, etc. No complaints, they are good to deal with, will answer any questions you have.

I have used Blackstone mostly in the past. I also use Schaeffer's becuase it is free. st 2 test have to help.

I use http://www.oaitesting.com/ this service, which in turn utilize "Polaris Labs" to do the testing of the lubricants. This service also has the "Horizon" tracking system which allows one to look at the equipment used to do the testing, and explains how the procedure of each test is conducted by that test equipment.

Very informative.

I use Cummins/NPower, our local Cummins distributor in Minnesota. They service the upper Midwest. Oil samples are sent to Green Bay lab, not sure if it's theirs or Cummins.
Samples are mailed, so anyone can use them.
If your lab does fleet tests, you can rest assured they are serious about the results. I would trust Genos, where ever they send theirs.

We have been lead astray on two occasions in aircraft engines with oil analaysis. Both times it was expensive and not necessary. I have not bothered with my truck and it now has 530,000 kms (320,000k + ) I change oil and filter at 6000k rotella 15w40 and Fleetgard filters. It uses no oil between changes. I use Balwin paper air filters and change them at 30,000k . Truck is not use off road or in dusty conditions. For those who have peace of mind by doing oil samples ,thats great . Have a nice day.

I have been using Blackstone labs for over 10 years. Very happy with them and their analysis results. I don't do it every oil change, but enough to know how the engine is doing. I have used them for my motorcycle too. It's amazing what they can tell you. They will send a box of sample kits, you send them in as you need an analysis done. I believe you can pay for them in advance, or pay one at a time. That's the way I do it, one at a time, about $20 a sample.
