anyone using JT's strong arm jack stabilizer????

Question on cargo trailer design

Well, looks like I'll need a weigh-distributing hitch for next year's trip... any recommendations? I'll be using the factory 3rd gen receiver.

I noticed there are two versions: one with round bars and one with square bars... what's the difference? Is one more desireable than the other?

Also, I'll be towing a 18 foot equipment trailer with a 6" channel tongue ("V" shapped) if that makes a difference...

I already have airbags... the trip will include carrying a slide-in camper (around 1500#s) and the trailer (2400#s) with a fullsize dodge 1500 4x4 on that (he figures around 6k for the truck, it's modified)...

I figure I'd load the camper and level the truck with the bags, then add the trailer and level it with the WDH... sound correct?

So what does everyone recommend for a hitch? Best places to buy them??

I bought an Equalizer hitch from R V Wholesalers.com and it really does the job on my 27 ' Cougar. It is easy to set up with good instructions. Hope this helps. It has the square bars and no chains.

I am on my second Equalizer hitch. My first one was rated for 600 lbs. and is currently for sale. My new one is larger and is rated for 1200 lbs. I like them alot and they are easy to adjust and set up. Square bars!

Take a look at www.airstreamforums.com . There's a towing/hitching forum that has tons of info... . having said that after much research this summer... if you have the money and don't mind a little more hassel in hitching up the Hensley Arrow hitch is the best but about $3,000. 00.

I chose to not spend that much money (and the hitching hassel) and went with a Reese High Performance Dual Cam hitch with square bars. I think it's the best next to the Hensley.

I've seen the video of the Hensley and actually had a used one offered to me (for about half price) when I bought my new Airstream but just didn't care for it. But my Airstream tow like a dream anyway so the Arrow wasn't really necessary.

Happy hunting!

Mike

That's for the responses...

Well, that makes more sense... square bars it is... whatever I buy has to be for 10k total weight...
