Recommendations for Cummins mechanic/shop in Knoxville, TN

Hi,

My 2004.5 has developed a rear pinion seal leak again (second in the span of a year). The first time it was replaced at a dealer. Started leaking again in about 3 months. The second time at a small shop with a Mopar seal. It is leaking again. I suspect there is a deeper problem -- either bearing (though, there is not whining sound or shake), or maybe the yoke or something else). The truck has about 160K miles.

Can anybody provide any recommendations for a good, honest and reasonable mechanic / repair shop in the Knoxville, TN area?

Check with City Diesel. I think they are on Callahan just off I-75 in North Knoxville. If they don't make that repair, they will recommend someone who does.

an out of balance driveshaft can make a good seal leak. check your driveshaft carefully, even let it balance to be sure about its condition.

been there done that.

@Ozymandias, I think you are very correct. It is probably my driveshaft. I will try to check it out before replacing any more parts.
