I'm interested in getting a 'diamond plate'style tool box for the back of my 2500 longbed. Any recommendations?I don't know a whole lot about what's out there. Your input would be appreciated.

I'm also looking for a box,but it has to be the right one. I'm stuck on a slanted box that is flush to side rails. A roll bar type rack to prop up ladders and such. This could be a seperate piece or all in one. I may not ever find it, I might have to design and build myself.

I have worked construction for the past two years. So, I have seen and tried many truck boxes. In my opinion, you can't beat the Weatherguard boxes. They quality and durability is great. They are not the cheapest, but my experience with tool boxes has been you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.

What kind of truck do you have if you have a 4x4 i would suggest getting a one solid door instead of 2 doors because the truck is to high to see in the box anyway unless you are 6'6" i am 6'2" and I can barley use mine on my 3500 duelly 4x4 you have to get in the bed to use it right but back to the original question I love my weather guard I have the second biggest they make because of my 5th wheel it would hit. I have haad the weather gaurd for 3 years and it has been nothing but great.

Hello

I have a side box that still leaves the full bed length for the 4 wheeler, etc and like it. It isnt the kind that mounts on the rail, it sits on the floor in front of the wheelwell, but it is a bigger 60" size so the hilift still fits.
Going to put one on the other side too.

R/K is the only way to go as far as I am concerned

Thanks for the replies, guys. GTSJOE;It's going in my 2500 4x4 ETH DEE longbed that I picked up about 2 weeks ago. Great truck!Already got the bed and rocker panels Line-X'd. Looking for a toolbox that sits at the front of the bed. At 5'9",I'll have to jump up in the bed to use it. V-10,does weatherguard make thir own or are they sold thru somebody? What about R/K?I'm assuming they're both aluminum. Any problems with leaks on either? Thanks,SAGWAGON

I have had several different brands over the years. R K does not leak. I now have the box with the single lid all the way across the bed & it closes quite easily, not like some others with underweight flimsy lids. #ad

Weatherguard is the best, built really strong and will last ! But I have a DEEZEE Platinum series (their most expensive one) because it came from the factory with a painted platinum colored finish (it was a beautiful color!) I ended up getting it painted black to match my truck, my favorite body shop did it for $65. 00. It has a one piece lid and sits across the rails, no good if I want to install a fifth wheel.

I would recommend Weatherguard. I've had mine for about 6 months and love it. No leaks, no problems. I have the model 117 with the single lid. Its the biggest one they make. It wasn't cheap though, pretty close to 500 big ones with tax!

I know they make em strong... I was helping a guy move once and he jumped up on top of the toolbox to get around some furniture. It freaked me out when he did it, I thought it would dent the top. The guy weighs about 230 lbs. but the top is still perfectly straight!

I sell toolboxes, took a three year old in on trade, painted it, put it in my truck. Three years ago! If anyone is interested in a hand tool tool box, Montezuma Welding in Montezuma, Kansas makes several sizes of boxes that are shaped like a right triangle and hold most all the tools a person would need in the field. All the farmers in SW Kansas have at least two, we have six. . They're fantastic.

I have a Highway Products 5th Wheel, single lid, bed rail high tool box. All aluminum diamond tread with stainless hardware, piano hinge lid, and DOES NOT leak. It is on its 4th truck--bought new in 1985. I replaced the rubber bulb seal last winter when I installed it on my present truck. It didn't need the new seal, just thought it a good idea since it had so many miles and years on it. www.800toolbox.com

Weatherguard! Installed a Weatherguard with the black powder coat finish. Looks great and is a very well made toolbox.
