Any suggestions on purchase of an (5. 9 cummins)exhaust system for a stock 2500 short bed SLT Dodge truck ? I am lookin at NAPA on line and they seem to have the best price but not sure if it is stainless steel for Northeast US.

Will attempt to install myself in driveway.

I have found that MBRP muffler systems are good and they fit up correctly. I am running an 07 5. 9L Long Bed muffler system on my 08 6. 7L Mega Cab. This fit the truck correctly and had no issues with the install.

If you plan on keeping your truck for any length of time, spend the money now for a quality 304 stainless system from a quality company like MBRP, Silverline, etc. With the road salt here in PA, a NAPA or other parts store exhaust system will last as short or shorter than the factory system.

I have a MBRP on our '04. 5 and a Silverline system on our '07. Except for a little road grime, they look like they did coming out of the box. Absolutely zero rust and the '04. 5 even wears a salt spreader during the winter season.

MBRP on my truck for last 9 years and Wisconsin uses alot of salt. Still looks decent and has a nice mellow sound to it. I love passing vehicles on the interstate when pulling my trailer with the Jeep loaded on it. It's gotta be loud!:-laf

I run a Silverline 409 T-back and have had zero issues. MBRP is good too. With my kit the only thing I didn't like was the clamps. I put on Donaldson 4 inch band clamps. They don't "dent" the tubing like muffler clamps. Makes it easier to take apart if need be and I believe they seal better. When I put on a different turbo, I had to use a hx 40 downpipe and the exhaust came a part a lot easier. On a sidenote I bought the silverline hx 40 downpipe and the flange was too thick to clamp to the turbo and it had to be ground down carefully.

Four inch band clamps work great

I've had good luck with Walker 4. 00 inch band clamps:

Walker Exhaust 33280 - Walker Butt-Joint Band Clamps - Overview - SummitRacing.com (These are the butt joint style)

or

Walker Exhaust 33224 - Walker Torctite Exhaust Clamps - Overview - SummitRacing.com (These are the lap joint style)

Not too expensive and allow you to disassemble when needed as opposed the the traditional "u" style muffler clamps which deform the exhaust pipe making it difficult to separate.

Oo. I think we need to get GENO's Garage to carry these since they sell the MBRP mufflers and Cat test pipes.
