I'm in need of Cummins part number 4920025. Does anyone know if this actuator is available as a recon unit? I know a lot of you like other brands but this has served me well for almost 400,000 miles. The butterfly in the actuator has eroded to the point that the brake makes noise but is quite ineffectual. I got a price of $885 from Cummins NE but the fellow I spoke with didn't mention a recon unit and I failed to ask. Thanks.

I'd try it both with the kit number and brake number on e- bay. Should be some NOS out there somewhere. I'll do a little research tomorrow.

I was hoping for a reman sense the casting seems fine. Not much there but a vacuum can and butterfly. I considered trying to build a shaft and plate myself sense the can holds vacuum and operates the shaft. The problems are downtime, and material choice and availability. I'll have to cogitate on it for a while.

I sold pacbrake for almost 20 years... the butterfly in the brake is installed on the shaft and than the brake is checked and calibrated... I'd be afraid of one that might go over the 60 psi magic number for maximum back pressure... if you exceed that.. you take the chance of the back pressure pushing an exhaust valve open at the wrong time... If I had a unit I was concerned about we'd send it back to PacBrake for testing and adjustment.... I'd suggest you follow the suggestions above... ebay... etc... I always sold my work trucks at the 350-400K miles.. and they had a working exhaust brake on them.... best of luck...
