Back when Dodge made TRUCKS......

Checked for Off-Road Diesel Today

But seriously , those guys at Banks look they put a screamer together.

Good job folks, congratulations. That would just about making a trip out to Bonneville a must do.

Yep, they sure built an awesome truck!

And according to their website, they spent around a MILLION dollars on that Bonneville truck.

FRugal, aren't they?

They must have HUGE profit margins from their products. I say HUGE because their products are overpriced.

Disclaimer: not affliated with bank$ or other vendors.

I am not either pro or con Banks, but that is one way cool truck! In addition, you have to respect their accomplishment. It ain't easy to set records at Bonneville, especially at the higher speed ranges.

Probably

Probably looking at the future of the Cummins 5. 9 here. They are probably going to sell some of the research back to Cummins in the near future. This isn't a Backyard built machine and I think it ticks off some of the backyard builders. I would think that we all would take it as a compliment that they would pick the Cummins inline over the V-8s available. This just means that they know a better engine when they see one. :D

They spent a million, had two, or was it 3 custom rear ends built, and twisted a yoke off on the last pass, or they would have had a faster average.

Pretty big oops there. .

(Reminds of the Ford 9 inch guys, you can't break these!)

Maybe they were going super light trying to save weight. Can't do that with a Cummins, it bites.

I bet we could give Texas Diesel Kid $750,000, and he could break that record!!!!

It may as well as been a rail, it does not really represent anything out there.

Don't forget that they did drive it 700 miles from SoCal to Bonneville towing a trailer. I am sure that it wasn't much weight but none of the diesel trucks run at Bonneville got there under their own power.

The way I read that, they WANTED to drive it, but didn't have time to swap rearends again, so just drove it from the hotel in Nevada, across the border from Bonneville.

It was cool and nobody had done it before, but I would rather see a full size pull in off the street, bolt some tires on and go do 160.

Can't wait to hear who grills old Gale down at NFMS, a lot of back yard hilljack HP junkies, go to that show, that don't buy into his deal at all.

Hope he done his homework!!!

I agree I would like to see a full size drive up there, run 160+ and then drive home.

I am sure he will have done his home work. Gale is a really sharp guy.

In the early '80's he had his engines in a couple of cars that belong to members of the same race club I belong to. He was running a twin turbo small block in a 53 Stude and we were running a blown 300" Chrysler Hemi in a 53 Stude. We were both running 235 mph as Bonneville.
