Looking for (and not having much luck) rectangular upper and lower control arms for my truck I think I'd prefer poly bushings with zerks to lube up once in a while - not what I've been able to find, ones for 3500, 01 and up, round - or fabbed like a steel bridge support and bright flourescent orange with big bold letters advertising to the world (for free mind you) with whom you spent your hard earned green backs with.

I saw someone w/a 99 purchased a set of sky jackers (I think - of course they are round - however if they were black and didn't advertise I'd consider) and the bushings were different on the top for some reason - he had to wait for the correct (99) ones to arrive to complete. #@$%!

I'd really like it if those that reply to this post would include links for the manufacturer they know of or at least the correct company web site or, even the phone number.

I'm all internet searched out:{ :(and really want to purchase asap.

Thanks

Could always built a set.

The arms under my Jeep are 2x2 tubing 1/4" wall. I've hit them pretty hard... the rears are 48" long. Not bent yet.

A little pricey... ... ... ... ..... $1300. 00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... ... ... . It would also appear that they only fit a third gen.

Rancho has what you want. I had bought a set back in 1996 for my 95 truck and they were only $250. 00 at that time. They are still avaliable from rancho, summit racing or any off road shop. You dont need to buy the kit form with shocks, springs. The arms are avaliable by themselves.

I know of another company that makes them, but I can't remember of the top of my head. I have a link saved on my home PC that I can post for you this evening.

I see the Defiant products are well designed.

I have a SkyJacker double-flex and it's ok but the 'zerks' are installed very poorly. They placed them in such a way that you can't grease the fittings! Yes, I can jack the truck up and change the angle to allow the arms to hang down to provide access but WHAT A PAIN IN THE ... .

To top it off... the zerks are the 'cheap' pop-rivet type and after buying the Snap-On 'angle type' zerk-feeder fitting to attempt to feed grease to the 'lame-angled' zerks you will eventually tear the zerks from their nest! I'm very angry about this. I have two missing at this time and I have black tape covering the holes.

I share this with you guys because no matter how pretty these things might be... . serviceability is what you must have... . and poorly placed pop-in zerks SUCK!

Before you buy look at the zerks and try to imagine where they will be located once the arms are mounted on your truck... it will save you a lot of grief!

Thanks Guys - keep them cummins. I liked the defiant ones too but wow $1300 and they're for 3rd gen only - apparently buy the search I did on the link to thier site. Thanks for the links.

PMcBride - thanks, I look forward to the name.

I have the DT and I'm very happy with them!!!

I abuse them and they still work well.

I opted for the 1/2" longer arms for my rig.

They help clear the 35" BFG's without any rubbing.

Note: The BFG's are mounted on the H2 wheels... .

This set up works great on and off road. .

Rough Country's 1500 kit has the square tube control arms with poly-bushings. They have no zerks, but they could easily be added. These would work on a 2500 or 3500. Rough Country allows you to buy individual parts. Sorry about the Defiant ones. After I posted them I saw the price and added the Tad Expensive part.

Rough Country also makes adjustable control arms that are round DOM tubing. They are part of the 94-01 Dodge Ram 1500 and the 03-05 Ram 2500/3500 5" inch lift kits. They would nice if you decide to add a front spacer or new coils at a later date.

control arms

Give Tyler a call at jackit.com,tell him what you are looking for and he can hook you up. They install alot of kits so he has a pretty good idea what will work on the different rigs. I was looking at buying the skyjacker with heim joints but he recommended that I didnt and he saved me a few hundred. Great service and price. If you dont want to advertise alot come with removable decals as mine did.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago,the same as San Felipe Bob,no rubbing with the new TOYO's M/T-315/75r16's. Great product so far, definetly better than the stockers and beefy too.

Thanks guys. I already have the steel leveling spacers and running the Bilsteins (yellow/blue boot) already had the shocks before the spacers, didn't get the longer fronts. I was told I didn't need longer front shocks with the 2" spacers and they've been on 15,000 miles. The guy that told me I didn't need the longer shocks had same set up on his truck for over 50k.

I don't want a lift - I just want a tight front end and the arm bushings are shot. Changing the bushings are out of the question - why replace something that's failed with something that is only going to fail again . . .

I saw the home made ones the guy Mark fabed up before - sweet - actually PM'ed him trying to coerce him in to making me a set - but you know how it is when you make something for yourself and then everyone wants them - too time consuming to do for everyone - I can relate and understand. They are sweet though.

Glenn - The Tough Country kit for $500 is very tempting and has everything needed. Even though I don't want to lift . . . whats another 3" :-laf. Heck, I could sell my Bilsteins and spacers to offset the cost. However, my concern is the kit is for a 1500 . . . I don't think the springs would hold up to the weight of the Cummins. Worth looking into thought - I'll call tomorrow and ask some questions. Maybe I could keep my stock springs and the spacers and install everything else. Decisions - decisions:confused:. Well, at least now I have something to think about. And the wife is already primed for about $325 :-{}so if I can offset the cost . . . ;)

DShaurt - I'll give Tyler a call thanks for the link and name.

Does anyone know about the springs in the TC kit - am I dead on that they wont work with the Cummins?

Thanks you all so much - this gets me closer to curing the bad vibrations of the vibra machine . . .

Joe, If you can find a Rough Country dealer you can just order the control arms. I just attached the picture to show you what they look like. You can probably call Rough Country direct and order a set of control arms. The control arm mounts are the same for the 2nd Generation 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. -Glen
