Recycled/Reconditioned antifreeze

Would you put it in your truck? Is it any good? What do they do to make it?

When it's refined it ends up so clean it's clear. Looks like water! I believe but I'm not certain that they do ad some additives/dye to spruce it up a bit. Would I use it in my truck? I don't think so, unless they could show me that it's as good as or better than new. I wonder what a search on www. would show up on recycled coolant.

The answer is a really <big>BIG</big> <b>depends</b>.

Are you looking to purchase it from a reputable recycler?

Do they use reverse osmosis or ion exchange or distillation process for purification?

Do they use completely de-ionized, de-mineralized, de-chlorinated water to reformulate?

Do they use a high quality additive package to recharge the anti-rust, anti-corrosion, ph balance, and lubricating properties?



For the average user I recommend staying with purchasing new stock. A fully formulated coolant is best. It you buy concentrate, make sure to use high quality distilled water for blending.

You can also use rerefined/ reclaimed motor oil and gypo filters like FRAM too.
