The red brake warning light is flashing - even when the parking brake is off. I also have no brake lights. The ABS light is off.

I suspect the brake pressure sensor (?) at the pedal. Could it be something else? Is there a way to test it without buying a new one to see if it fixes the problem.

Anyone have a part number? I tried to find one online somewhere, but no luck.

thanks,

Flashing vs. steady on means something specific. I don't have the SM here to look up what. Look in the Owner handbook, it may have something there. It might mean low brake fluid. Or it telling you the brake light switch isn't working (thus nobrake lights either).

The switch is underneath the instrument panel, near the brake pedal.

Yeah, fluid is good. I'm pretty sure it's the switch.

I was hoping someone would know where to get one online.

The only part numbers I could find on the switch itself are:

PBT GF30 and 56045043AG

neither of which brought anything up on google.

well, it's not the sensor - I replaced it this afternoon with no effect.

There's no power at the bulbs when the brake pedal is depressed.

Any other ideas?

My brake light flashes when I put the shifter into Drive and the E-Brake is still applied... . but the brake lights still work (something you truck is not doing)...

I wonder if the E-Brake pedal switch is at fault..... even though your brake lights don't work either?

Can't wait to see the resolution to this one!

update:

I managed to fix the brake lights, but the brake warning light on the dash is still flashing. I guess it could still be the e-brake pedal switch...

Any other ideas?

My e-brake pedal will sometimes not release quite all the way and I have to nudge it up that last 1/2 inch with my foot. Doesn't do this all the time, but when it does the light flashes like you are describing.

Mine has done the same as DBoggs, but its been a while since the last time maybe a year or so. I just tapped the pedal underside a little and it stopped.

Hey... . check the TSB's... . there's a notice in there about the Emerg. Brake Light Switch adjustment... . have the dealer cure the problem! I did!
