I have twin D31T Optima Yellows (the largest they make) on my Toyota Land Cruiser with a 4. 2 Hino tubodiesel. I acedentaly left the headlights on for 4 hours. When I finally discovered my goof:mad:, the lights were still on and it started right up:-laf. After my OEM dies on my CTD, it will be replaced by either a D31A or D31T Optima Yellows.

How did you get a turbodiesel Toyota Landruiser?

I had Red tops in my 99' . I only really ever had two bad instances with them. 1st was with the first set, they were bought " refurbished" from Sheldon Battery on Las Vegas. They did pretty good until I was running with a National Incident Management team in Utah in 2002. One of the fires that the truck was on, the over night temps were getting into the low teens. The starting was very sluggish, and I had to make sure that the truck was started at least once a day in the morning and ran for about 30 at a fast idle. Then no more problems for the rest of the day. I got back to vegas purchased new batteries and didn't have another problem for about 3 years when I moved to northern NV in 2004. The following winter in 05' we were seeing very low overnight temps ( single digits and below zero ). The 3 y/o Optimas' ran a bit sluggish for about 2 months and then finally quit sometime in february of 05'. I didnt bother to recharge them, I just bought two new ones in and no more problems. I originally bought them to eliminate corrosion problems stemming from lead acid batteries in the Southern NV desert, along with the truck seeing a severe off road service, along with a heavy electrical load( lights siren, 3000 w inverter, and mounds of communications equipment) in the fire / rescue business. The Optimas' never skipped a beat in that environment. Now I am going to try for round two with Optima Red Tops in my 06'. I dont have as much of the electrical loading in this new truck as I did with the 99', however I am still concerned about the cold temps up here. Will just have to see how things work out. I will be very disappointed if I cant keep the Optima batteries in this truck. just my $0. 2Oo.

I have 2 red tops standing by waiting to go into my '03, still have the stockers in there with 186k on them. Run Optimas in all my other junk also, with the exception of the '93, when its time, that'll get the big Optima!
