Got up this morning, looked outside and found a mixture of sleet / snow about 3" deep! Wahoo! Being a broke college boy, I'm always looking for something to do... So, my roommates and I go out and tie ropes behind our trucks and drag each other all over campus... it was great :D. The other people saw what we were doing and came to join in. It was a blast. All we needed was a car hood to make it a Redneck sanctioned event :p

Ok, so I had to measure a pile to get 3", so what :p, This is Texas, hardly get any snow, but have fun with what we get :D

It was deeper beside our dorm rooms. It was much more shallow where we were "skiing". But that was the only place they would let us do it. Where I'm standing in the first pic, it was about 3" of sleet and ice (Notice the sidewalk just behind me? It sticks up about 3" and the sleet was level with it). That's what I was guaging off of.

Traffic and tractors have pretty well gotten rid of all the ice on the streets now though :(. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted! But like everyone else... I'M READY FOR SUMMERTIME!

Before I moved to Wyoming From TX I thought that 3" of snow was a lot:eek: and so did everyone else since they would close school for it. Here in WY if we get a foot of snow in an hour they still expect to see ya at school or work:{ It sure can make my 15 mile drive to work real interestingOo. Come on up I will show you what real snow is and might take you snow machining:D

In Arizona they issue a weather advisory if there are clouds in the sky and everyong talks about the awfull weather. In Colorado the weather isn't bad till there's at least 18" on the ground or the wind is > 80 MPH.

Da Weather

I grew up in Wyoming - my mom still has pictures of the drifts up over the house and burying my dad's Cherokee Chief. Here in VA, they close schools for less than an inch of snow - with the 24 or so inches last weekend, schools were out for a week! At least we finally got something here - more snow than the past 6 years combined!

Hey klenger- when we get 18" it is'nt bad, its medeocre:D bad would ONLY be 3". 24" is awsome! We got 31" or so here in the last weekOo. Oo. Our company has a 8" powder rule. Work is optional on those days. Sorry Texas, had to rub that in;) (gawd, I like these smilely faces- 'specially when it's dumping out) -frank Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

It's about time you started getting some snow. I spent a lot of time in Summit County before we moved here last summer. I really love the area around Frisco and Breckenridge. I've hiked, bicycled, and snowshoed a bunch of it. Makes me homesick.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... . Yep, Ken it is beginining to look a lot like winter. Finally!! If these spring dumps continue we just might be able to ski A Basin on the 4th of July! Been a while since doing that. They do have snow making finnaly and predict year 'round skiing. Oo. Although the snow at that time of year is like skiing on mashed potatoes!

Hey Gizmo- refering to your post about using a car hood for a sled: When I lived in NJ years ago, we used to use old VW front trunk hoods for sleds. They worked great and used to be a "dime a dozen. " What a blast!

fkovalski, we sure are getting hit hard, huh? Steamboat has recieved over 51" of snow in the past 96 hours, and it's still coming down! Forcasts estimate accumulations of another 5-12" by tomorrow, and it's not really supposed to clear up until after saturday!

Ya gotta remember, it's texas... . thier inches are measured differently than the rest of us... . at least that's what I've heard from some Texas ladies... .

Morph.

So what your really saying is Texans are Nearsighted or have no "Depth" perception that enables people to determine size?

Just kidding... ...

I wish it would snow here... ... wanna watch the idiots drive in it.

That wasn't sleet/snow, that was just a heavy frost. Humidity must be a little high. :D :D
