RATTLINRAM,

Is that Disputana or Disputanta VA you hail from? I grew up in Chesterfield county (Enon) and used to race mototcycles at Green's Raceway in Disputana. I haven't been back to that part of the country for ~30 years. Is Green's Raceway still in operation by any chance?

RedRam1,
Yes, Green's Raceway is still here. In fact, Bruce just started having races again last summer after being closed for around 7 or 8 years at least. He 's also having mud-bogs during the summer. He had closed down years ago saying insurance costs and county cops wanting to hassle people leaving to go home after a day of partying. But he has a partner now and seems to be doing pretty good buisness. I grew up in Prince George & Hopewell and plan on staying here for a long while. I also used to do the dirt drags with a modified Sportster at Green's before he closed years ago. Now I just sit on the front porch and watch the folks turning off 460 or stopping by the little store on the corner on their way to the track.
Nice hearing from a fellow Virginian, Take care.

RATTLINRAM,

It's great to hear that Bruce and Green's Raceway are still around, I get homesick just thinking about it!
What timeframe were you campaigning your Sprotster at Green's? I ran a CZ in the dirt drags around '74 - '76. If you remember any CZ's form that era, it was either me or one of the Garrett boys. The Garrett's hailed form Enon, their dad owned Garrett's Marine and sold CZ's. More importantly he leased and maintained the gravel pit in Enon; the pit was the most popular place to ride dirt bikes in the Hopewell/Petersburg/Chester area throughout the '70's, ever been there?
I remember the "king" of the dirt drags back then was a guy from Williamsburg... can't remember his name, but his bike was called "The Judge". It was awesome watching him thunder down Bruce's little dirt strip in one gear, throwing a 200' rooster tail the whole way!
I pulled up your profile and noticed you worked for Allied Signal in Hopewell, my dad worked for Allied from '51 till he retired in '81. He transferred to Houston in '76, so I don't guess your service times overlapped. Dad worked as a Chemical Engineer specializing in process control.
Sorry about rambling on so, but it's great to hear form an 'ole Virginia boy, I've lost touch over the years with most of my old buds from those days.

Papa - I thought he lost his life for $43?
