I had the same experienced the same problem on an HD W250 gasser I once had. The way I solved it was to move the pitman arm one spline on the steering box output shaft. The arm was keyed so that it was missing one spline notch cutout. So, I spent about 15 minutes with a small triangular file and cut one more notch in this blank space. Then I could re-index the arm one notch to the right and gain a lot more right-turn. I lost a little left, but in this country I figured I needed sharper right turning than left turning. Check to see if your steering wheel is also keyed to the column shaft in the same manner. If so, this may not work. It will be way off centered and turn signals won't cancel right either. The old '86 I had, was equipped with a tilt column. There was no indexing slot on the steering wheel splines. I was free to put it on oriented however I wanted.
Good Luck!
