Redwing Boots???

Are they as good as I have always heard? I am looking at getting a pair Wednesday(today) but am wondering if they are as good as the old Ariat boots that I have now. They have lasted me about 4 years of off-and-on wear.



The pair I'm thinking about getting is the pull-on's with the snake on the bottem of them, can't remember the number right now. They retail at stores around here for around $180.



I know that Justin makes a good boot, but I'm tired of my feet hurting every day.



Any thoughts??

I work as a tech in a Honda shop and I've got a pair of Red Wings that I've used every work day for 7 1/2 years. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't worn them myself. They have had no care or cleaning. They were a bear to break in, I had to develope a couple new calluses where the steel toes rubbed my toes but they became so comfortable I dred the thought of replacing them. Definately money well spent.

I used to buy Redwings but was wearing them out in less than two years. I'm tough on boots. I have since switched to Danner boots and have been on the same pair for 5 years. http://www.danner.com/ not sure if they make the type that you're looking for though.

I vote for the Danner Boots also, mine have lasted the the worst of it, they are going on 5 years. I also like the Ariat Boots better than the Redwings.

My choice is Whites. They are made in Spokane, WA primarily for the logging industry. These boots are rebuildable by the company at a fraction of what new boots cost. Styling is very similar to red wings. 1-800-541-3786.

I have both.

The Redwing's are about shot after two years... these are the lace up roper style steel toe work boot. They took a while to break in, and now they are like slippers. These are my work boots... . I work indoors.



The Ariat's are in good condition. These are also lace up ropers. They broke in easily, and are like slippers. I have had these for six months and use them for everything but work.



I would say that the Redwings would probably hold up to more abuse than the Ariats.



Whatever you do, do not get the Justin Work Boots... . they are crap... even when well greased they would let water through. Can you expect from a boot made in Texas to hold out the quantity of water we have here in the Pacific NW

I have had Redwings, Danners, Rocky's, Ariats, And Doc Martin's. Best boot for durability is the Danner. Most comfortable has been the Doc Martin. The Ariats are a really good boot, but nearly impossible to find around here. I have had a couple pair of Redwings, but none lasted more than 1 year, the soles are too soft. The Doc Martin's are easy to find here and what I buy now. They are super comfortable and last nearly as long as the Danner's. If you need a waterproof boot go for the Danner or Rocky. The Danner is about twice the money of a Rocky and the Rocky seems to last about half as long the Danner. My vote goes to the Doc Martin, it is the only steel toe that I have ever had that is as comfortable as a normal boot.

Redwings

All I used to buy was redwings, but their quality has gone down the tubes in last few years. Last pair stiching started coming out at 3 mo. and was told sorry not my problem by dealer. That was last pair.

I've had great luck with my two pairs of Redwing Loggers. They were as comfortable as slippers as soon as I bought them. They get more comfortable the more you wear them.

I have a pair thats about 6 years old. Still wear them. I've heard the new ones of today are not as good as the old ones.

My family has worn Red Wings for years, and I still do. They make boots that actually fit me (b width) and they last forever. Can't say enough good things about them. . I get 2 or 3 years out of them with quite a bit of abuse. And, they are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn.

illflem - Redwing is now probably the Pacific Rim division of Daimler, or is it GM? The old ones in all three cases were pretty good.

The arch in the Danners does not fit my foot very well. They also seem to fit the a narrower foot than mine even though I wear a D width.



I have a pair of Red Wings that I really like. I wouldn't buy another pair unles they have the Comfort Force insoles.

I have the "Pecos" style

The pull-on cowboy boot- style is the one that RedWing calls their Pecos model. First pair I had lasted 7 years, with a re-sole job at 4 years. I'm on my second pair, had those for 10 years but hardly ever wear them anymore, they are hard-soled, more suitable to actual ranch work than anything else, but I'd rather fork a bronc than walk a mile in 'em.

Well I have tried them on before, and since i knoew that i wasn't going to be happy unless i got a new pair of boots, and since there was NO tdr yesterday, I went and got a pair of Redwings. I got the 4470 pull on boot, in width B, didn't know I had that thin a foot. There are sweet. There are comforidble as all get out too.



If these don't last I will try the Danner, but because I couldn't get on TDR yesterday, I didn't know about them.

Wolverines

I used to always buy redwings, but have found the Wolverines to be much more comfortable. THey don't seem to last as long, but I buy a new pair once a year or so anyhow. I keep 2 pair of workboots and switch between them, seems they stay padded longer. Got to take care of those feet when they tote a gut like mine around.

I've been wearing Redwings for about fifteen years now. Other then Lab puppies tearing the tongues out of them, they've served me well. I too alternate my boots every other day. I currently have a pair that are eight years old on the umteenth sole and a two year old pair that's about due for it's first resoling.

Take care of them and they'll keep your feet happy.

I'm on my 2nd pair of wolverines in 6 years... don't last as long, but they are extremely comfortable.
