I want a different 5th wheel hitch???

Seeking truck shop near Grand Rapids MI

I installed my 18K signature hitch in 1 day. The hardest and scary part was drilling and fishing the bolts with that wire that was supplied with the kit. The hitch works great no problems so far. Take time to paint the parts to avoid rusting. I bought mine online from hitches online good service, fast delivery good price.

Puller :)

I have had the same Reese classic 20K on 3 trucks (going on the 4th) now. I bought it in 96. After looking at the prices of the SIG hitch, I would buy the Reese Classic 20K again (for 1/3 less) in a heart beat. So you have to take a flash light and make sure the jaws are closed, I am the type that checks that kind of thing anyway, weather its a classic or signiture hitch! I can't see how the jaws could not be closed when the handle is in the locked position, but I still check anyway. (in fact I check it several times in the process of hooking up). Ya, I am that same guy who has been known to get out of the truck and run back to the front door just to make sure I did lock it. In fact every night when I bring the dogs in I end up turning around just to double check the door locks

My wife is the same way with the gas stove. Even now that I have replaced it with an electric one she still wants to check it to make sure she turned it off.

TowPro: Nice post... . I have had various 5er hitches, on Ford diesels, I'm shopping for a nice, dependable hitch that won't break the bank. I'm leaning towards a Husky.

Those folks out there thinking about welding or drilling on the Dodge frame might want to look at TSB 13-001-03. Dodge does not think welding or drilling is a good idea. There are bracking systems out there, Reese makes one of them, which works very well. Good luck

Definitely buy a hitch that pivots both ways, makes it easier to hook & un hook. I have had no problems in a strong wind, with mine.

As for using a Reese Classic hitch, I use one. I have yet to drop my 5er, but I do a pull test, plus check to be sure the jaws are locked too. It is a whole lot easier to do these checks, than write the check for the repairs after you have dropped your 5er on the box rails.

I would like more info on the Reese Bracket system that don't require drilling. I called Reese asking what I need to install my classic 20K onto my 06 and they gave me all the part numbers, but its a kit that requires frame drilling. Maybe its because the 3500 single rear wheel truck has helper springs?

I finally got around to calling Reese on this "no drill" bracket. Its only for the 1500's, and maybe the 2500's if they don't have helper spring brackets.

The drilling is minimal and is within the guidelines that Dodge reconmends. Personally I would rather have a hitch frame through bolted to the frame of the truck as oposed to clamped around it, the way the signature series secures to the frame it can only make the truck frame stronger as well.

I am debating between a Pullrite 25. 5 and a Reese Signature 24k. Any thoughts? Any others to consider?

I will be pulling a 19K car trailer

I should mention that I don't have a bed, so I don't care about holes. And because I don't have a bed also, installation is going to be VERY easy so I don't really care about the possible difficulties there.

BTW it is probably not a coincidence that these hitches are within 1 dollar of each other shipped to me door.

I am getting a "low profile" trailer. He says the king pin height is 42". I measure 42" to be EXACTLY 11" above my frame rails. Should this be a problem?
