I had the flash done on mine way back when and, even though I had no white smoke, it made a real difference in mileage. I noticed no difference in power at any given RPM, it still pulls like a freight train up the on ramp...
I do have other mods (see sig), but I hand calc'd a tank tonight that was probably 90% highway @ 65mph and 10% heavy traffic... 448 miles on 19. 36 gallons. And I know I had exactly the same amount of fuel as I did when I filled up before because I use my aux tank to force the fuel into the filler neck for consistancy.
That figures to just over 23mpg... with 4. 10s! This was one of the best tanks (of mileage) I have gotten, but I can get there! Driving my normal 60% highway/40% heavy traffic usually nets me between 18 and 20 mpg.
IMO, the flash for white smoke and mileage was the best thing they ever did to my truck (it was the only flash ever done). At one point, someone hinted around that the flash also bumped the truck from a 325/600 to a 325/610, but I'm not sure I believe that.
