All kinds of fun stuff out in the shop this week...
53" Reefer Trailer, something got too close to it OR it got too close to something else. I didn't get pictures of the side before they cut the skin and removed the damage but it had a huge gash about 40" long in the side.
These side panels are buck riveted to the vertical crossmembers when the trailer is manufactured so a repair cannot be buck riveted without completely stripping the inside panels and insulation out. A dry van is not as bad but insulated refrigerated trailers are hard to fix.
In this case partial panels will be used and attached using 3/16" and 1/4" Monobolt Rivets which can be done from the outside.
The damaged areas have had the rivets cut off, the panels cut where they will spliced and removed. I want you to take note of the wet spots where the customer continued to use the trailer and did not seal up the gash. Those areas will remain wet forever now, it will not dry out.
