Hello once again with another development.

I'll be idling for a while when the regen system will come on, I discovered that when I touch the brake pedal, the regen shuts off and, when I let off the brake pedal, the regen resumes.
Where can be the correlation?

Mine used to do that. It thinks you may be moving when you take your foot off the brake.

There is a flash that will fix that. I don't know if it will be covered under you warranty. My dealer made me pay for the computer update.

truckmen, when's your next trip to Minnesota... The Flash to fix the brake Regen 3 years old, Your truck very out dated, The Dealers Hands are tied , FCA has ALL Dealer flashes to mandatory ONLY or its $.. Even TC Diesel has to pay FCA Blood Money for Flashes but its considerably less than Dealer rates.

Good morning TC Diesel and all the readers,

I'm actually loading my last car in Buffalo, NY for Montana and should be coming through Minnesota during the weekend.
This is the first time I have heard about this flash. My truck has been to the Ram dealer in Ellsworth, Maine at least as recent as last fall. How much does this update cost and where can I have it done?

Cost might depend on the dealer. In Miami, it costs $30-36 per update plus tax

Oh no! There may be more than one update?

You can request just the ECM update(s)

You probably don't need the ones for the antilock brakes since It's not a recall and other BCM updates may not be what you are looking for.

Sag2 can tell you more specifically which updates can be selected without performing all of them? I vaguely remember Bob 4x4 saying that sometimes the tech can't control how many updates it does once hooked up.

Tell them you only want to pay for the ECM update and the others might accidently load for free?????

Newsa its a lot More Now, ALL Dealers are prohibited form doing flashes without FCA approval, its carefully monitored.

At times I need to place the Origin of the vehicle to Rest of World, NO Dealer will have this option.

Let me tell you my update story.....

In 2016, after my 3 year 36k bumper-bumper ran out. I had it in for a recall.

They told me there were 3 updates and the the updates were not required, and I'd have to pay 30-some dollars each if I chose to get them. The service writer just said they are new versions of software like your phone has, but the old software would probably be fine since they weren't recalls.

I chose not to get them. One was the ECM, one was the antilock brakes, and i think the third was the PCM. (Not sure of the specificity because the service writer couldn't explain them in detail.)

Well, in Oct 2017, my truck went through 5-6 regens (countdowns) and eventually gave me the message that the DOG was full.of ash... see dealer.

I was getting the same behavior you describe with your regens. Now, I don't get a perceptible change in engine noise during a regen. They fixed the DPF (stationary regen) and updated/flashed the ECM (I think the one they told me about a year previously). They did charge me for the update. I found out later that they shouldn't have charged for the update because it was giving me probs and it should have been covered under the Fed emissions warranty.

Bottom line. If your truck gives you a DPF error message, the flash is (should be) covered under emissions warranty. But if you request it without your truck giving your an EVIC warning, It's on your dime

Newsa, NOTHING gets done for FREE....If FCA finds the Dealer breaking its Policy its ugly, and NOW all 18+ have secure gateway modules.

YOU NEVER WANT A DEALER TO PICK AND CHOOSE. leaving lighting bolts on Modules spells trouble for owners.

WITECH 1.0 IS dead.

Truchmen Just call Me 763-228-7121 Todd. After This gets Done you can return to this thread and comment on How dangerous it is to just let anyone flash Modules that are NOT qualified to do So.

I'm not going to go into details how many hoops FCA makes you jump threw just to Make 2.0 work.

Honestly, Truckmen, I think that old programming works for people who tow heavy like you do. I wouldn't bother with the update unless you get a serious EVIC message. If It's not broke don't fix it. You might actually get it covered under fed emissions warranty?

Newsa , What happens when You have 3 Modules updated and 5 lighting bolts that communicate with the rest of the tied in system and it throws the CEL?. Now the communications throws more codes. Every Update states the same warning, (ALL must be updated) to current versions.

The dealer will be charged for the Additional 2 if NOT authorized to do So, I know its NOT right, but thats the Policy.

Well, they charged me for the one update 9 months ago and I don't have any CEL's.

Dealership might have charged both me and FCA because it was supposed to be covered under fed emissions warranty. But they lost my business. I have tried a new dealership for my water pump recall.

If I don't have any problems, the truck doesn't say there's a problem, I'm golden

OK...I should have said what If..So if you throw a CEL in the future and it triggers More and puts the Truck into derate power?. I can't give advice I know will be problematic

I'm confident that You still Need Updates, Unless the TECH provided You a snapshot with the date and Time .. with all your modules blue W/O lighting bolts or recall icons you cannot prove Nothing.. Unlike if Your standing Next to Me viewing the screen. I show ALL owners its good to go, No paper work and No He said SR said whatever, Someone May jump in Here, The dealer wanted $4700.00 in repairs, I fix the issue for $185.00 in Updates and de-sooting that was 14 months ago. its just 1 case out of many.

Newsa ,I'm glad things work out for YA, I'm done debating this with you.. I will save My efforts for more productive matters.
