gauges are great for monitoring how hard you are working your engine. Even stock engines benefit from this, especially when near/at/above max GCWR in high ambient temps.
Key word or Acronym, above Rams GCVWR or operating over the manufacture intended use of the truck no what the ambient is.

I have gagues on my 98 12V, if I did not have them it would have been burnt up long ago. On this 2011 I am on their dime and with all the sensors that are built in they are very easy to diagnose. If I still have the truck at the end of the warranty I probably will ditch the DPF and add gagues.

The 4th generation trucks with the EVIC, set on fuel economy will do much of the guess work regarding head winds, up or down hill grades

My '11 has aprox 15k miles and it has not regenerated to date. I recently had it at the dealer and specifically had them verify with diagnositc; they reported its count is at 4000, they noted count needs to be at 25000 or higher to cause a regen.

Try another Ram service department with a trained or at least competent tech. The guy who told you that is totally uninformed.

HBralow,
The Senior Diesel Tech showed me the numbers on the diagnositc; I happend to be working another issue and was insistant on knowing the exact numbers.
What values do you understand to be Regen threshold?..... maybe he had the threshold wrong.

I have seen the specs printed out and discussed several times including on TDR in older threads but don't remember the details. My guess is what your tech doesn't understand is the time intervals are measured in seconds or minutes of run time and he may be assuming they are recorded in hours or miles. I'm not sure of the details any longer so can't clarify but know with absolute confidence our Cummins engines run a regeneration cycle roughly every 150 to 200 miles.

Your truck has completed a regen many, many times or the DPF would be alarming on the instrument panel and might already be 100% full.
