I couldn't tolerate it as much traveling as I do, I have to have a place out of the weather to keep my clothes. That and I usually have my cousin or my fiance with me. Try taking two people on a weekend trip with a sub box behind the seat. My cousin and I had a large thick plastic bag we would wrap our bags up in before leaving town so if it started raining on the way to a pull or something we could just keep on trucking. :-laf

What keeps me tolerating it is checking prices on new trucks   Also remembering back more yrs than I care to remember when there were no club cabs or quads. The only room behind the seat held the gas tank

Thank God, or Chrysler, then for the modern technology. :-laf

For what I do the regular cab is just what I need. It is extremely quiet, has a short turning radius and will pull whatever I need to pull. I probably haven't had anyone in the passenger seat for more than a few thousand of the miles on the truck and my gear will fit behind the seat easily. I have a flatbed on my truck, you can see what it looks like in my gallery.

I sold my regular cab, D250, and bought the Quad cab. Though I loved my D250, I'm constantly finding great reasons for the back seat in my new one. It's extremely handy. The only drawback, like stated earlier, is the turning radius. But as in all changes, you adjust. No problem.

I wouldn't go back to a regular cab pickup now!

My neighbor has a '90 regular cab with the "park bench" seat and it really sucks. My '98. 5 reg. cab is quite comfortable and I love the modular storage system behind the seat as well as the short wheelbase. It's only the wife and myself,no dogs, kids, etc. For us its great!

We were able to swap out the old "park bench" seat in my D250 for seats from a '97 Ram. It sure made a world of difference traveling. The old seats sure were hard on the ol tush and back!

My wife and I do alot of camping here in the PNW and it's nice to have a spot for the dogs in the back seat. I didn't want to have to put a canopy on this new truck for hauling purposes, so for us, it's the best of both worlds.

I think as long as it's a Dodge Cummins, we've all done alright.

I currently own 2 regular cabs, both since new. I can only think of one time in twelve years that I wished I had had more room. The advantages of the short wheelbase when towing and parking far outweigh the extra room IMO.

I have only had regular cab Rams. I enjoy the classic look of a regular cab, and I really don't need the extra people room very often. The 3rd gen is one of the quietest vehicles I've ever had- there is no extra noise coming in from the back window area. There is plenty of room behind the seat for most items. I recommend it- especially if you have another vehicle to move people in.

I agree... this is my 4th regular cab (1st 3rd gen)... quieter than my 2nd gen in the cab.

yeah but its harder to convince the wife you need a bigger garage.

I like my reg cab more than the quad. Much nicer to plow with and pull trailers through tight places. It also weighs less so thats got to be worth at least a few MPG's. Mines a little louder than most trucks inside but its not that loud consiedeing theres two 6" pipes behind my head. :-laf

I have one of each, I like the regular cab a lot, I found myself riding around alone in my four door only thing the back seat is good for is collecting more junk!! Behind the seat in the two door is real big and you can fit a lot back there.

Wow guys, I didn't expect this big of a response at all!

It seems the general consensus is the regular cabs aren't what they used to be.

I have been driving my quad cab, and my Dad's 4-door, and it does seem that only once or twice a week is anybody back there, rest of teh time is junk storage.

Well this is my 1st post so here goes. Since owning both cab configurations, I'll throw in my 2cents. Regular cab truck is great if you don't have any passengers to cart around. I travel coast to coast every summer and it is just me and the dog and the cab works just fine. Lots of room behind the seat for one person's items. The quad cab is great for people hauln' but has the potential to collect a lot of "stuff"... for me anyway :) Load flat floor in the QC is definately a plus and worth the $$. Hardly feel the difference in wheel base length between the two trucks.

The other benefit to the longer wheel base, which I forgot to mention, is the added stability while towing. (Longer is better) And it's also awfully convenient hauling items back and forth that you don't want to get wet. Specially here in the PNW. With the Quad cab I don't need a canopy, which sure comes in handy with bigger items that wouldn't fit otherwise.

I LOVE my regular cab.

That said, I do have it for sale. I really hate to get rid of it, but the wife and I are trying to have our first child. Since we use it to tow our boat, and we plan on having our child on the water with us, we are going to look for a Crew Cab truck of some kind. I am not wild about getting rid of my truck since it really was my dream truck, but to keep the wife (and baby) happy, I will do it. I can always get another one some day. If not for that, I would not sell it. I love the room in it. I have plenty of storage behind the seat, and the other junk stays in my tool box in the bed. It is short enough to really be able to get the boat in and out of tight spots, and it is nice having the long bed. I am also upset since it is a 2005 wiht the NV5600, I spent forever trying to find this truck. Oh well, someone will get a heck of a nice truck.
