travel trailers

Have to buy a pintle hitch for my reciever. I already have a ton of othe recievers with various size balls. I use a nice adjustable (via pins) drop hitch rated for 10K with a 2 & 5/16 ball for towing my equipment trailer.

I have recently been towing two other trailers for someone else quite a bit and they are both pintle ring trailers. I have been borrowing a pintle with a 2" ball for this but need to buy my own. The question is: Which is better and why? A regular pintle hitch, or one with a trailer ball on it. I dont really need the trailer ball style since I have an assortment of other reciever hitches but are they better then the regular style?

Thanks in advance.

If you do alote of pintle hook towing it can wear on you ball to the point it is no longer safe for regular towing.

They are great for on the job sight for spotting different types of trailors.

I have a 3 axle tag a long with a pintle & it has a tendancy to rattle around pretty good when turning & backing so when I have to haul it any distance I use the straight pintle style hitch.

I would say the combo unit is perfect for light or intermitent use. But I wouldn't use it heavy (10k+) for long haul.

Thanks for the insight, that was exactly the information I was looking for. Bought a regular pintle.

Thank You
