Welding a Tidy Tank.

I am looking seriously at some land that has 3 old springs on it but with the drought conditions they are now dry, does any of you have experience with springs and what can I do with them to help them produce again. One of the springs has alot of huge trees around it and it also has old foundations from stone from way back when, it is obvious that it produced for alot of years, infact the area is still green around it, I was also wondering if this would be a good place to drill a well, my wishes would be to install a sistren and have the spring running thru it to keep it fresh. I have seen setups like this before and as long as you have supply they work great.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated... ... ... ... ... Kevin

Sometimes they fill up with silt and stop running. If that is the case you just have to dig them open again.

My place in WA is fed by a cistern/spring system like you're taking about. During an '80s drought the flow really went down, I ended up digging five reverse type leach lines spoking out from the cistern and got plenty of water. Sometimes trees will have to be removed and kept out because they use water but you have to be careful because the shade they provide may be help produce more water. If the soil is right and you have a bank perforated pipe can sometimes be pushed into the ground with a backhoe or dozer for a digless supply pipe.
