After having numerous fuel system issues,,i decided to simplify things and take off the useless **** Dodge put on,,,keep in mind i run mainly home brewed biodiesel,,,and mixes,,,after having the prefilter plug up a few times,,i decided to by-pass it,,,the fuel heater got tossed a long time ago,,,what i did was going directly from the tank to the lift pump,,,no more stupid tiny pre-fliter bowl of a ****ty design anyway,,,most of the big trucks and buses i've seen with our engine dont have any of that,,,so my question fro the fuel system gurus is,,,is there any problems with putting a 90 degree JIC fitting in the lift pump fitting and connecting the fuel line directly to it,,,so it's not up high anymore,,i was wondering if it matters that the supply line is that much lower that the return line,,it doesnt seem to affect anything,,but i would like to hear others who have done something similar's opinions,,

Next i want to attack the ridiculously installed rear return line,,,hoping to hear advice on how to do this right,,,dont care much what it costs,,i just want to do it once and do it right,,so any advice would be welcome,,,i want my fuel system to be efficient and simple,,,not the ridiculously design dodge way... which obviously sucks a lot... i guess they didnt have their brightest engineerss working on these trucks,,,LOL. .

Thansk for any advice,

I ordered a barbed banjo, 14mm, with a 5/16th barb from US Diesel Parts: High Performance Diesel Parts for Duramax, Cummins and Power Stroke. phone 406 728 7620. The part # is D42400, and the cost is $4. 24 . I also asked for a couple of the rubber washers that go on either side of the banjo.

This banjo replaces the connection for the fuel return line on the injection pump. I then ran new rubber fuel line outside the injection pump and down to the plastic coated steel return line by the frame, which I chopped with a tube cutter. I left the redundant return line in place, after chopping it off as high as I could reach.

I never want to again replace that hidden rubber return fuel line in the middle of a long trip. It's one of the best mods I've made on the truck.

Nick.

cool. . good to hear... i havent been able to get much in the way of advice or ideas on here,,,there was a time when you posted a question on here,,and you'd have a bunch of answers in 24 hours,,,i guess nobody much cares to bother with helping anymore,,,so thanks for your reply Crowhurst,,,you're the only one who bothers to reply,,LOL. .

I connected my fuel supply line directly to the lift pump,,bypassing all the crap prefilter/heater **** Dodge put on,,,any idea if there's a problem with that,,since now the supply line is much lower than the return line,,,truck runs great,,but it's always nice to get input from guys who are knolegable about our fuel system,

Thanks again,,,

Good to hear all your advice,,i thought it would be ok,,but wanted to check,,,i used a 90 degree out of the pump,,,maybe 45 degree would have been better,,,,next project is a fuel filter relocation using a bigger filter with clear bowl,,to the firewall next to the brake booster,,easy access,,,if i can figure out what to do about the injector overflow line,,,?????
