Snoking,
I just installed the Vulcan kit this past weekend and the truck seems to run smoother. I don't know if it is my imagination or its because I ran the tank down below 1/8th so the fuel would'nt siphon out and I filled up at the local station that I don't normally use. Or if the extra pressure at the VP44 helps enough to feel.
One thing to note... a properly running lift pump moves A LOT of fuel. I was so careful not to loose a drop of diesel during the install but when the time came to prime I stupidly left off the filter cover. DUH!
That was a long 20 seconds and I used up a bag of kitty litter mopping up the mess. Won't do that again. Should have had the cover ready to screw on but it was a long day...
I did notice a lot of foaming until the bowl was about 3/4 full but then it was straight fuel. I still had to crack 3 injectors to fire it up so I guess that will be SOP with all filter changes on this truck (had to do it the last time, too).
The Vulcan kit is real nice and the couple of drips were easily fixed with 7/8 and 13/16 wrenches on the fittings.
The 3/8 line took a long time to cut with my little K-D pipe cutter. I was thinking that I ruined it when I cut some stainless gas line for my buddy's Mustang. So I diligently turned it and tighted with a pair of pliers until it finally cut through. Turns out the fuel line on this truck is also stainless steel which explained that difficulty and the cutter is surely wiped out now.
