With all the talk of the new hood and getting air to the engine I

wonder if you can relocate the BHAF to front of engine where the filter was on my 92.

The 92 truck run much cooler than this one.

I was thinking it would get fresh cool air not hot air from turbo.

Maybe make a duct from the bumper. +/-

Does anyone have a idea.

I know I guy who does nothing but truck pull with his truck and he put his in front of the engine and under the front bumper. You couldn't do this with a truck that you drive on the road but you could make a duct of some sort to direct the air to the filter.

It was the marine version of the BHAF, same filter just with the mesh inside and out. He had it were it stuck below the front bumper. Pretty neat looking and he said it helped lower the EGTs by 400 degrees.

Part number please....

I've got the BHAF on my truck now and I hauled a 5,700lb escavator to the house today and thought I should check it to see how hot the filter had gotten and it was hot but I could still hold my hand on it. I worked the truck pretty hard to with the little trackhoe and the gooseneck(found a powersmoke and couldn't resist not playing a little on the highway). :D With 32lbs of boost the turbo is really talking now. The BHAF did lower my EGTs by about 200 degrees with the pedal all the way to the floor.

Thought you guys might want to know that guy with the filter is pushing over 700hp:eek:

I know the filter itself may not get to hot,but the air that goes in it may or may not decrease engine performance.

The big trucks get thier air from outside the engine compartment.

We talk alot about the amount of air from filter, but not the quality.

Thanks Big Daddy

Thanks for those p/n's. I might try one of these next to see how they compair. I LOVE the BHAF, but this the Marine might give a LITTLE better filteration. Would this be right? How much more would they be?

I asked Fleetguard about this; they say both filters have exactly the same filtration ratings. Only difference is that the inner mesh provides better media support in case the filter gets wet.
