The moderator may choose to toss this thread, but I am posting it here because this forum has the most threads so Maybe it is the most read. I know there are TDR guys out of work and I also know there are some that are doing quite well. Let's not forget the Salvation Army , Red Cross , Food banks, Churches, etc. this cold winter season since many of them are receiving fewer donations due to the slow economy . Merry Christmas Folks.

I have given quite a bit to the Salvation Army this season so far. I just have that feeling that it goes a long way with their organization.



I hope to see you again at a future event. I hope to have something set up for February.

good to hear from you David. I glad to hear you donate to Salvation Army. that is my favorite. When My house burned down in 1982 they showed up with new bedding, new under wear, groceries. etc. I always try to slip them a 20 when I go by but this year it has only been a single. really been eating on me that I can't give more, but this has been the slowest 6 months of business we have had in 18 years. On the way home tonight I rolled down the window to visit with the pastor of the church across the road and he was telling me how slow donations for the churches, salvation army. etc. are this year and they are weighing opening a daycare to make ends meet and help those needing someone to watch the kids while they look for work , etc. That prompted my post. Got the interior back in my truck after the Noise Killer, Filled voids with liquid foam or foam peanuts. Much quieter. When we meet next everyone will really notice the difference.

We're doing a toy drive at work for kids in the cancer ward at the local hospital. It didn't hit home till I was at the store buying one boys and one girls gift. Started thinking about those little children fighting for their life and what their parents must be going through. Damn near started blubbering at the cash register.



I lost my sister to cancer last month and we lost a guy at work to cancer last week.



When I got home today I gave my wife a big long hug.



Kinda puts what's really important in perspective.

I'm a long time Salvation Army contributor. Can't pass a bucket without putting some bills in it. It's in rememberance of how they treated my Dad when he was in the hospital in Pearl Harbor late in WWII. They came around every day he was there. With goodies, books, a kind word, and even ran errands. He was on the third floor. In contrast, the Red Cross had a canteen on the first floor. He never saw the Red Cross in his ward.

We cleaned out our closets last week and donated all of our old coats, sweaters, and warm clothes to the local mission, who will distribute them to the poor and homeless this winter.

4/5 times a year I do a donation to the LOCAL thrift and Salavtion Army as they do the most good as to $ in v/s $ to end user [least used up in "administrative costs" ]. . to bad we can't say that about Red Cross as big as they are.

I also want to add that there are many local organizations that are small and usually dont get much at all, we have a local transient organization that in the past has only received funds from me but thru the matching company funds they are able to have addequate supplies for the less fortunate, and my company gives me a paid day off for my contribution... ... ... win win deal
