I have a co-worker that is selling a Remington 11-87 "Special Purpose" 12ga. shotgun that is in mint condition.

Does anyone know what it's worth?

I have one. I have used it for deer hunting for 4 years. I have a rifled slug barrol with cantilever scope mount. I have only one bad thing to say about it. It seems to chew up the brass part on the slugs because of continuos reloading of the same shells. I have never had this problem with any other gun. But I never did take it in to have it checked out . It could be something simple. It is not a Benelli or Browning but it is a good gun. With the finish on it, it makes for a good turkey gun also. (no glare)

This one has the 21" Turkey barrel with the Extra-Full choke and yes I know not to shoot a slug with this choke in. He's asking $450 for it.

I like the fact that it shoots 3" mags, but I've heard that shooting anything but "High Brass" shells may cause it not to eject ones like the Low brass shells. So my box of no. 6 shells price has just doubled.

Does anyone see a problem just using the 21" for all-around hunting? I'm kinda used to nothing shorter than a 26".

You are right on with the hi-brass versus low-brass statement. The low-brass will fire fine and eject ok, but the high brass do eject much better.

WOWZY, I had 2 1187's at one time. If it will not feed and eject ANY 2 3/4 or 3" shell there is something wrong. The only ones that might not work OK in a gun that is working right are the "extra-lites". I got rid of mine because they were sensitive to cleanliness. 150 rounds max and they were jamming. Bought a 3 1/2 Browning gold and a Winchester Super X 2. Both are vastly better guns, but 450 is pretty reasonable for an 1187. Don't get me wrong, 1187 is a good gun, just not for me. I shoot 15-18K rounds per year, and my O/U was beating me up.
