Dental Denture Question

Tire size calculator?

I have a model 798 remington in 7mm mag. Great gun except for the trigger. There is a lot of slack and the poundage is high. No what i'm used to in my model 700 with 1. 5 lb pull. Is there a way to adjust the trigger myself or should i Just get a timmeny?

Well if it's an option for you, go with the Timney. Trigger jobs aren't that difficult and a competent gunsmith can do pretty close to whatever you want. I have a Timney trigger one of my Weatherby's, it's very crisp and i'm really happy with it. Honestly though on my hunting rifles, i only notice trigger pull at the range, never in the field:-laf

hehe welcome to Mauser 98 triggers. Definitely not in the same league as a 700 trigger, but the action IMHO makes up for it.

It is adjustable as a stock piece although I don't know the skinny on how to go about it.

I would go with a Timney or equivalent. Lap the bolt a bit, do the trigger job, and the rifle will be a nice shooter. Put a custom stock on it and you'll have Remington's best rifle ever, from a functional shooting perspective. Just my opinion...

"Remington Model 798 Trigger

This is not a new trigger mechanism, but in fact a very old one. The 798 rifle is, however, a relatively new model in the Remington line. Remington's commercial Mauser 98 based Model 798 centerfire hunting rifle is supplied with a fully adjustable (pull weight, sear engagement and overtravel) Mauser 98 type trigger mechanism. The 798 Owner's Manual pointedly does not mention this fact and the relevant parts have been excised from the parts diagram, but anyone familiar with the plethora of commercial Mauser 98 hunting rifles produced over the last century (or who has read the Guns and Shooting Online review of the Model 798) should have no trouble figuring out how to adjust the Model 798 trigger. Ironically, this old design is the best trigger mechanism available in a Remington hunting rifle today. "

I have heard about lapping the bolt but what are the benefits? I did notice one other thing I didn't like was the roughness in closing the bolt through the action. You could see the rough tooling marks. I took some 500 grit and polished it a bit and used some remington grease to make it smoother.

Non imbedding valve lapping compound is the proper stuff.

Make sure you clean the heck out of it or you're going to really mess up the head space.

They make a special tool that applies pressure to the bolt, but if you run a cleaning rod down to the closed bolt it will do the same thing.

Dykem blue or in a pinch a sharpie will help determine your progress.

Just do a little at a time then check it.

I think I will just take it to a gunsmith, have him do the trigger and the bolt and whatever else will make it sweeter.
