Remote Camping Spares

We are planning to do a lot of remote camping and extensive back road travel ( Newfoundland - Labrador - Alaska and such )

in the not too distant future. What is the collective advice on what spare parts to take along.

Lift pump, fanbelt, basic tools... what else?

I always take an air & oil filter and oil,premixed antifreeze& thermostat,Fuel filter& tools to change or fix the aformentioned. Also some powerservice additive and needless to say assorted safety items. The nice thing is I've never had to use 'em. Have a good trip!

Is there a motochickle and a hang glider in that trailer box?

Bicycles, a moped, snorkle gear but no hang glider. Maybe a paraplane would fit.

What I take with

Is a storage box with a few quarts oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, air compressor, flares, coveralls, spot light, duct tape, bailing wire, Fuel Filter and wd40. I also carry a small tool box with enough tools to fix the neighbors rig.



Did I mention that the only items I have ever used was the wd40 and spot light for cat fishing and the bailing wire to hold a tarp that wanted to flap in the wind.

We carry two street legal dirt bikes - '99 WR400 & '92 XR250 - in the back of our Patio Hauler 5th wheel Both bikes have ~100 mile range on pavement so I'm not too worried about getting help.

I usually carry:

1. oil and fuel filters

2. oil

3. radiator and heater hoses

4. a length of 3/8 fuel hose

5. fuses and light bulbs

6. electrical and baling wire and connectors

7. DUCT TAPE

8. a 3990105 lift pump



I also carry 12 empty sand bags. If I get into some bad sand and get stuck i will fill them uo 1/2 way and make a good traction mat.

It's kinda like wearing a belt and suspenders to hold up your britches, just for extra peace of mind!
