I was wanting a remote start put in my 2002 dodge ram diesel . I called around and got prices from various places your price was great so I scheduled and appointment . a week later ... ... I called the day before the appointment to verify the time etc. . they said be here 10 am ,,,



so my one day off work in the middle of 10 12hr days I have my wife follow me to the store in heath Ohio

When I got there the install guy was telling me I needed a lot of stuff that I personally know for a fact that I didn’t need ,,,, Like the special box for the keys with chips in them ,,,I knew 100% that my key don’t have a chip in it so I became leary .....



After questioning the guy on a few things he finally brakes down and tells me he don’t want to lose his job ,, but he has no idea how to hook the remote starter up in my truck ,,,, and ask me to come back tomorrow ,,, I told him I couldn’t and we went back and forth for a while and I asked him to call the Lancaster store ... .

So I returned to the parking lot and told my wife that had just followed me to heath for 45 mins that she is going to have to follow me to the next town about 30 mins away . .



I arrive at the Lancaster location the guy seems to act like he knows what’s going on ... says it will be done in 2 hrs .....



5 hrs later I show up with a truck in a million pieces ,,,,and I wait till he’s done ,,, he didn’t even hook up the valet mode or the led ,,, didn’t explain anything ,,,I have the turbo timer and I don’t even know if its hooked up ,,,, I pulled out and seen my Check Engine light was on ,. ,, I called him over he said "don’t have a clue"



I stopped by auto. zone and had the odbii codes read it came up intake heater malfunction ,,,



I got home and went to bed because I have to get up at 3am to go back to work ,,,well MY TRUCK KEEPS STARTING EVERY 2 HRS !! BY ITS SELF



So I just called off work for today and im going to try to get ahold of the managers at both of the stores



This requires an immediate response this is unacceptable work practices

Every 2 hrs. that is rediculous (sp) but still kind of funny. Anyway, I'd have them remove everything and get a FULL refund, then go get it done at a good shop.

The lady manager in the heath store damn near started crying



and has got me an appointment @ 4 pm for all there techs to look it over and fix it and complete the install ... ... This appointment is set ... . now i called the manager in lancaster . .



the installer is getting ripped a new one right now ... the manager is pizzed BIG TIME "THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE" , HE STATES and said hes going to call me back once he talks to the installer .



I was explaining the whole story to the lancaster manager and when i was about 1/2 way threw he interuped me voilently and said it sounds like your issues are with the heath store ... then my tone changes and I say NO my issues are with your store ,,, "HOW THAT", HE SHOUTS ,,,, YOUR THE GUYS THAT BOTCHED THE INSTALL ... ... He quicky changes his tone and starts taking notes



Waiting for a call from the lancaster manager and i have an appointment with the head tech and the whole crew is being called in ((((other than the boy that most likly got caned today from the heath store))) @ 4pm



Probly just cost 2 guys there jobs ,,,,, im sure the "tranning" they past was a joke ..... now that big corperate calls them install tech ,,,,,,,,they are suppose to know how to do everything if they dont its there own personal fault ... ... this is major BS its the tech school who passes these punks threw thats to blame



I told the managers I send a complaint email with there store numbers to corperate offices



Things are starting to heat up /... ... ... ...

Lancaster manager just called



The dude that installed my starter is there SR. Tech



The manager said he couldnt get ahold of him ,just getting cell phone voice mail , he said as soon as he gets ahold of him he will contact me .



The manager has been intouch with the heath store manager ,,, (he must of called her directly after we got off the phone)



And the lancaster store is trying to push blame on the heath store for being the ones who where suppose to install it and made the sale in the first place ,,,,,,



I Now have the managers fighting back and forth



But it seems they are still worried about doing whats right with my truck

Well here it is 6:30 thats 2 days of my life completly wasted !!!!



The heath Manager told me if i had anyone touch my truck all liabillity will cease and they will not uphold the warentee ... I told him to fly a kite and i was going to get it fixed by someone who knows what there doing ,,,he said the guy that installed it must deam it as messed up before they will pay to have anything fixed on the truck . I said Ill pay for it ,,, Click



I went to CVZ @ 1pm and they tore it all apart and half of the wires were not even connected all the way ,,,the diaode on the WTS light was backwards and the programming in the brain was wrong.



They added a timer on it that doesnt work with the wait to start light and it just waits a set amount of time before it starts i can adjust the timmer very easy right now its on 30 seconds , they mounted the antena and removed the diaode and soildered the wires back together ... .



For a total of $88 ...



I left with the CEL on even after removing the neg termenals after he corrected the wiring ...



I dont know Zanesville very well and it was about 5 pm ,,, so what I needed to do was try to get the code cleared ,,,, as i see a dodge dealer Im thinking Ill just stop in and have them clear the codes and if they come back i can buy the parts i need to fix it ,,,,



that was the plan ,,,,



I approach the service desk and the guy had a diffrent idea ,,,,LETS HOOK IT ON THE COMPUTER ,,,, I say no way just clear them ..... HOW MUCH FOR THAT ... he said $35 ... . I say ... BYE



And lucky theres an auto zone up ahead they cleared the codes and the CEL still hasnt came back on .



Now if the truck starts by its self tonight or if the CEL comes back on ,or if my intake heaters are not working ,,,, I will have to go to Best Buy so they can look it over and hopefully not notice the timer CVZ added . . this way they will pay for whats needed to fix it



If the CEL stays off , the truck dont start its self , and my intake heaters are working ALL IS WELL

The codes i had were



P0382 (M) Intake Air Heater Relay #2 Control

Circuit

Problem detected in #2 air heater solenoid/relay circuit

(not heater element)



and



P0237

MAP Sensor Voltage Too Low



They seem to still be cleared going out to check if the Intake heaters kick on . .



its been 3 and 1/2 hrs and it hasnt started by its self . .

the Wait to start light just came on with all the other idiot lights and went right off ...



It should be cool enough for them to run.



Could the intake heaters be faulty and not set off the CEL again ?

Man... . what an epic. .



I dont think the heaters are faulty, they're pretty heavy units. Might be something interrupting the coil voltage to the control relays, if the BB or CVZ guys messed with that. If you have weather less than about 50°f overnight, the heaters should run for at least 2-3 seconds, not just go right off.



You should file a complaint with the BBB about this, its inexcusable. I feel your pain on the lost time tho, must be a b*tch to deal with... The first time it autostarted I would be flippin out, but with the starter kill deal, you cant just unplug the thing. I`ve never been much on a remote starter setup cus of weird crap like that. .

chad, the starting every two hours thing is a program done on your controller. look in the owners manual that they should have supplied you with. it will tell you how to work everything. there should be a turbo mode also that will allow the truck to run for a preset amount of time for turbo cool down. i have installed these myself. i installed the one on my truck and have had no problems. i always use viper. if you have any questions d/c me.

ok what is it between the dealers and the big chain stores does anyone now a days know how anything works do they know how a internal combustion engine work the more i read about these problems the more i thank God that he gave me the desire to use my talents to their extent and that includes doing my own damned work i hate paying for things that i can do and like many here will only pay some one if they know exactly what they are doing such as small local reliable buisnesses but realy u would think that these people would send their techs to better schools and train them better so that they don't have as many warrenty problems whats the point of having one of their guys do it when they are just the average american and the guy buying it could do an equaly good job they screw the same stuff up whats the point of having them when i bought my stero the look on the guys face when i told him i would install it was priceless xlpod deck 85. 00 10 disc cd palyer 100. 00 wiring harness 20. 00 seeing the look on the techs face when i said i didn't need help installing priceless

I warned ya

Thats why I left Circuit City partially. To many headaches fixin ***** up ****. I could have told you that a pulse timer relay is what you needed for the wts. You should have got the warning sign at the first store. The worst part is the guy that did your install at BB was probably MECP certified. That whole certification is book knowledge crap. Installing alarms and understanding how they work are more common sense. No certification tells you how and when to apply what to where. Just because that guy can read and comprehend doesnt mean he understands nor can apply his knowledge to your vehicle. Most big chain stores cant do a diesel right anyhow. I remember my first diesel(mercedes turbo diesel). Really kicked me dead in the arse. But everyone after that was a breeze. Most people dont even know about a wts light anyhow. Hope they didnt mess it up to bad.

Well . .



It didnt start by its self all night ...



I just woke up and ran out and the Wait to start light STAYED on like its suppose to..... when it came off it fired right up.



CEL is still off



We Have HER whipped
