Note that my signature says "Viper ESP 150 remote start". This is not really a lie because it is at least "in" the truck if not "on" the truck.

I need help. The instructions are fairly clear, but they break down because they don't tell me how to, for example, use the starter interrupt I already have with the system that came with the truck, or how to interface with all the other stuff that Viper provides but is already on the truck.

Do you have a Circut City in your area? I purchased the 550 and had them install it. Couldn't tell you how to do it but they did a great job for me.

The Viper 550 is a great system. I have it in my truck as well. As far as interlinking your 150 into the existing alarm system good luck. Sounds like a nightmare install to me. The one thing I can tell you about remote start is it doesn't work worth a darn below 30 degrees F. If that is why you want to install it don't bother. It turns the engine over but it won't start!!! The remote start doesn't apply the necessary increased fuel to start in cold whether. It is still nice and is kind of a cool feature to show off in a parking lot or when the truck is really hot inside and you want to start the AC before you reach it.

Oil Ape

What kind of system do you have? I have the Astro Flex's Astrostart and it has always started the truck with zero problems other than the remote going out after 3 years. It even has a temp. sensor on it so it will start at a preset temputure. It is a nice feature when I lived in Alaska and the power went out at 40 below and the block heater worthless. I believe the coldest I ever had it start by remote was 25 below. I blown a fuse, in the house, so there was no block heater. I had the automatic temp. start deactivated because I was at a friends house and his parents' bedroom was right next to the driveway. It started right up. It did run a little ruff for a few seconds then just smoothed right out.

Mark,

Viper should have a tech support line... ..... Call them they should be able to answer some questions and e-mail you a schematic complete with color codes... ... ... At least that's the way it was when I installed my Crimestopper 900... ... . I didn't have any problems remoting my truck this winter and it was down to 10 f.

The 24 valvers must start alright with it then at lower temps. Probably due to the electronic fuel delivery. Mine is a 12 valve and the manual states that below a certain temp one needs to depress the accelerater slightly while turning the key. It starts fine via the key at temperatures well below freezing but just doesn't turn the engine over long enough via remote. I think if I increased the idle preset or the duration of the remote start it might work better. I'm glad to hear it is working on some of these trucks, now I might need to tinker with my own. Any 12 valvers out there with my problem?

As to the problem of installing the remote start Viper is part of the larger company of Directed Electronics and you can download your specific installation guide off of their webpage http://www.alarms.com/ It is found under the "Guides" tab at the top... .....

Ape man... ... ...

Check to see if you can increase the crank time of the remote starter that you have... ... ... ... ... . that'll cure the problem.
